An electrical assembly includes at least one electrical conductor. A flexible electrical tubing has an end, and loosely carries the at least one electrical conductor therein. An electrical component, such as an electrical connector or plug, is associated with the electrical conductor and hermetically seals the tubing end.

An electrical tubing assembly includes an electrical tubing having a non-smooth outer surface. A grommet has an outer periphery, an annular groove in the outer periphery, and an inner surface. The inner surface is in continuous and intimate physical contact with the outer surface of the tubing.

A fluorescent lamp holder assembly is adapted to receive various injection molded end cap structures allowing the fluorescent lamp holder assembly to have several embodiments, including watertight embodiments. The fluorescent lamp holder assembly may be disposable or may allow replacement of the fluorescent lamp, with the replacement style being watertight. The fluorescent lamp holder assembly generally includes a fluorescent lamp surrounded by a protective sleeve. A first end cap covers a first end of the lamp and sleeve, while a second end cap structure comprising a power connector cap and tube power connector cap covers a second end of the lamp and sleeve. In one embodiment, the protective sleeve is a structure that includes inner and outer co-axial tubes with a plurality of spacers or creases therebetween and/or therein defining a plurality of chambers defining a plurality of air pockets. The air pockets provide insulation for assisting in cold starting of the fluorescent lamp. Electrical leads that extend between the end caps may be carried by one of the air pockets or be integral with one of the inner and outer tubes as strip conductors. In another form, a ballast may be integrally incorporated into an end cap of the fluorescent lamp assembly. The end cap would be releasably retained onto the fluorescent lamp assembly and be couplable to a source of electric power.

Non-arcing fluorescent lamp holder

A lamp holder carries a fluorescent lamp which includes first and second contact pins, with each contact pin having a diameter. The lamp holder includes a socket having a pair of walls defining a clearance distance therebetween which is at all times greater than the diameter of the contact pins. The walls define a slot therebetween, the slot configured for receiving the contact pins therein. At least one of the walls has a first notch for receiving the first contact pin therein. The lamp holder also includes an electrically conductive terminal associated with the slot for providing power to the second contact pin. The terminal is configured for melting when being an electrode of an electric arc discharge, thereby discontinuing the electric arc discharge. The lamp holder further includes an electrically conductive resilient device for biasing the contact pins out of the slot when the first contact pin is not received in the first notch and for biasing the first contact pin into the first notch when the first contact pin is received in the first notch. The resilient device is biased against the terminal by the second contact pin when the first contact pin is received in the first notch. The resilient device interconnects the terminal and the second contact pin when the first contact pin is received in the first notch.

The invention is directed to a lamp holder for carrying a fluorescent lamp, including two contact pins, with each contact pin having a diameter. A socket includes an inner hub, two slots and a conductor. The two slots are disposed on opposite sides of the inner hub. A spring biases the contact pins out of the slots. The conductor is associated with each slot, and is configured to engage each contact pin of the fluorescent lamp. The conductor and the inner hub define a clearance distance therebetween in a direction transverse to a longitudinal direction of each slot, with the clearance distance at all times being greater than the diameter of the contact pins. The clearance distance allows the contact pins to be moved away from the conductor by the spring, to thereby prevent electrical arcing when one of the contact pins is not fully engaged with the conductor.
