An instant book binding system and book cover for rapidly binding single- or double-sided documents, photographs, pages, and other forms of hardcopy media into soft or hard cover books is disclosed. The book binding method using the book cover or system can be performed without special skills or training, and does not require the use of ancillary equipment. The book cover and system can be used in conjunction with output on a wide variety of media types, finishes, and stock weights from any type of printer or copier, or with photographs. The finished books retain the appearance and function of conventional mass produced soft and hard covered books.

Book cover and uses

Methods and a system for providing an image enhanced product are provided. One method includes identifying a framing system having a holding area with positioning features that hold a masking surface that generally blocks the passage of light through the masking surface except in a plurality of window areas; determining an arrangement of a plurality of overlapping receiver mediums to provide a plurality of image receiving areas in correspondence with one of the of the window areas when a reference edge of each of the receiver mediums is located using an associated one of the positioning features; and printing images in the image receiving areas of the plurality of receiver medium sheets according to the determined arrangement; wherein said determining is performed in a manner that causes any overlapping edge between two receiver mediums to be positioned outside any of the window areas, and causes at least portions of selected images to be positioned within the window areas.

Computer implemented method for generating an image enhanced product by selectable printing and framing

A system for generating an image enhanced output product and method for operating the same are provided. An image enhanceable product is identified having a tangible surface and a printing map is defined that defines a plurality of window areas in which images are to be printed on the tangible surface. A desired visual impact characteristic is determined based upon the appearance of the image enhanceable product and the printing map and a selection of a plurality of digital images are received. An image processing method is selected method based upon the determined visual impact characteristic and at least one of the digital images is automatically processed in accordance with the selected image processing method. At least some of the digital images, including the automatically processed image, are provided on the tangible surface according to the printing map.

Book and a method of making same

Means are disclosed for alternately presenting copy sheets of either a first characteristic or a second characteristic to an image receiving position from respective first and second copy sheet supplies. A set of document originals are sequentially copied onto copy sheets presented at the image receiving position, with copies of successive document originals of the set being copied onto successive copy sheets from the first supply. Copy sheets from the second supply may be left blank or may receive images of successive document originals of the set such that each original is copied multiple times, at least once onto a copy sheet of the first characteristic and at least once onto a copy sheet of the second characteristic.
