Protective eyeglasses

Protective eyewear having a wrap-around type lens and a frame which surrounds the upper and side edges of the lens. The frame includes a slot to receive the lens, and the slot has spaced pawls within the slot. The lens includes mating detents within the face of the lens to receive the pawls and thus retain the lens to the frame. The lateral edges of the frame include upper and lower struts and a bracing bar extends vertically between the struts to define an airflow opening. Rearward of the bracing bar a paint hinge posts extend from the struts in coaxial spaced opposed relation. The temple for the eyewear includes a hinge end having a pivot hole for receiving the hinge posts. The pivot hole includes a cutout with a height corresponding to that of one of the hinge posts, and a width slightly less than that of this hinge post. The temple may thus be mounted and removed from the hinge posts by inserting a first hinge post into the hinge hole, and then snapping the cutout over the remaining hinge post. Where a goggle configuration is preferred, looped ends of an elastic band may be placed over the hinge posts. To increase airflow and/or increase eye protection, a deflector may be removably connected over the airflow opening to guide air behind the lens. The deflectors may be employed with either the temples or the elastic band.

Disposable face mask

A disposable protective cover for face-engaging respirators, or the like, which is particularly useful in a contaminated environment in preventing particulate buildup on the respirator. For example, in painting operations the cover protects the respirator from paint buildup and contamination, preserving the respirator from undue wear and reducing frequent cleaning and maintenance of the respirator. The cover presents a thin, flexible body configured to generally conform to the shape of the outer surface of the respirator. The body has an opening to provide access to the respirator intake and a cuplike section to provide a loose fit of the cover around the respirator exhalation valve to allow unrestricted breathing. The covers hereof present structure for quick attachment or detachment of the covers from the respirator. The exact structural features of the covers are adapted to accommodate different types of respirators, such as full face or half-face masks, and external air source or filter type masks.

Disposable covers for respirators

A compact dispensing device, especially useful in conjunction with disposable face masks, is provided which serves to store such masks and to serially dispense the masks in response to user demand. The dispenser preferably includes an elongated container in which the masks are stored and an apertured retainer secured across one end of the container. The retainer preferably presents a depending, inwardly converging sidewall around the aperture and the masks are interfitted such that the strap of the mask adjacent the retainer is positioned through the retainer aperture. The retainer aperture presents the same irregular cross-sectional configuration as the mask cross-section, with the masks being serially dispensed by simply pulling on the strap of the mask presented through the retainer aperture. In preferred forms, the depending sidewall has an inwardly-extending lip with the wall and lip cooperating to allow the masks to be singularly dispensed while retaining the remaining masks within the container.
