A luminaire that includes a heat spreader, a heat sink diametrically outboard of the heat spreader, an optic retained by the heat spreader, a light source disposed on the front side of the heat spreader, and a power conditioner disposed on the heat spreader. The power conditioner is disposed on the same side of the heat spreader as the light source. The heat sink includes fins that alternate with adjacently disposed and radially oriented recesses.

Low profile light

A retrofit lighting system is provided comprising a power supply assembly configured to convert an AC input voltage into a DC output voltage and to adapt the DC output voltage to a substantially constant current level to be defined as a regulated current, at least one distribution wire in electrical communication with the power supply assembly and configured to conduct the regulated current, and at least one respective luminaire assembly spaced apart from and in electrical communication with the power supply assembly, and configured to receive the regulated current from the at least one distribution wire. The DC output voltage may be about 12 volts or less.

Canopy light system

A thoroughfare lighting device includes a housing to be attached to a thoroughfare surface, and including sidewalls that taper. A plurality of light-emitting diodes (LEDs) selectively illuminate individual lanes, including a first set of LEDs to emit a generally white light, and a second set of LEDs to emit colored light that is observable by an observer. A driver circuit operates the second set of LEDs to emit colored light illuminating a single lane indicating a condition of the individual lane. Optics may be carried by the housing and positioned in optical communication with at least a portion of the plurality of LEDs. A traffic sensor communicatively coupled to the driver circuit and configured to sense a traffic pattern and generate information regarding traffic on the associated thoroughfare. The driver circuit is configured to operate the plurality of LEDs responsive to the information generated by the traffic sensor.

Street lighting device including traffic sensing and communication with observers and associated methods

A luminaire is providing comprising a heat spreader and a heat sink thermally coupled to the heat spreader, an outer optic retained relative to at least one of the heat spreader and the heat sink, a light source in thermal communication with the heat spreader and comprising a plurality of light emitting diodes (LEDs) that are disposed on the heat spreader such that the heat spreader dissipates heat from the plurality of LEDs, and a power conditioner configured to receive AC voltage and deliver DC voltage to the plurality of LEDs, the power conditioner being disposed on a same side of the heat spreader as the plurality of LEDs. A combination defined by the heat spreader, the heat sink and the outer optic is so dimensioned to cover an opening defined by a nominally sized can light fixture and cover an opening defined by a nominally sized electrical junction box.

A system for assembling a luminaire comprising a housing, a computer-controlled manipulation device, and a parts repository defined within the housing and configured to carry a plurality of light modules, a plurality of luminaire housings of various luminaire housing types, and a plurality of optics of various optic types. The system further comprises a programming device configured to program a light module of the plurality of light modules to emit light having lighting characteristics. Each of the light modules are configured to be removably couplable to the computer-controlled manipulation device. The luminaire housings each comprise a locking tab configured to permit the respective light modules to engage therewith, thereby enabling attachment of the respective light modules to the respective luminaire housings. Each of the optics comprise a locking tab configured to permit a respective luminaire housing to engage therewith, enabling attachment of the respective luminaire housing to the respective optic.

Method for assembling a luminaire within an autonomous luminaire assembly and vending system

A thoroughfare lighting device comprising a housing configured to be attached to a thoroughfare surface, a plurality of LEDs configured to selectively illuminate individual lanes of the thoroughfare surface, the plurality of LEDs comprising a first set of LEDs configured to emit a generally white light and a second set of LEDs configured to emit colored light that is operable to selectively emit light so as to illuminate individual lanes of the thoroughfare surface, a driver circuit configured to operate the second set of LEDs to emit a colored light indicating the condition of a first lane of the thoroughfare surface, and an optic carried by the housing and positioned in optical communication with the plurality of LEDs.

Street lighting device for communicating with observers and associated methods

A retrofit canopy light system is provided that has a multi-output power supply assembly in electrical communication with a plurality of luminaire assemblies through a plurality of distribution wires. In one embodiment, each luminaire assembly may receive an electric current from a respective distribution wire extending from the power supply assembly. The power supply assembly may convert high-voltage AC to low-voltage, regulated DC. Each luminaire assembly may comprise a light source and a low profile, heat-dissipating frame in thermal and mechanical communication with the light source. The heat-dissipating frame may be constructed of a thermally conductive material, and may include a plurality of heat sink fins and bars. The heat-dissipating frame may present a substantially flat surface configured for flush mounting adjacent to an existing canopy fixture.

Autonomous luminaire assembly and vending system and associated methods

A lighting apparatus including a plurality of luminaires, each including a controller configured to operate the luminaire and positioned in communication with a computerized device. Each luminaire is selectively operable to emit source light, characterized by a dominant source light wavelength within a range from 390 nanometers to 750 nanometers. The luminaires are arrangeable so as to form an array. Some luminaires of the plurality of luminaires are operable such that at least two of the luminaires emit source lights with different dominant source light wavelengths and the source lights emitted by the luminaires combine to form a combined light at a distance from the luminaires defined as a combining distance. The dominant source light wavelength of some of the luminaires varies with time. The luminaires are configured to be operated to selectively emit light having a spectral power distribution that reduces melatonin suppression.

System for generating non-homogenous biologically-adjusted light and associated methods

A thoroughfare lighting device may include a housing configured to be attached to a thoroughfare surface, having a top surface, a proximal face, a distal face, and first and second opposing sidewalls, a driver circuit, a plurality of light-emitting diodes electrically coupled to the driver circuit comprising a first set of LEDs configured to emit a generally white light, and a second set of LEDs configured to emit colored light that is observable by an observer. The lighting device may also include an optic carried by the housing and positioned in optical communication with the plurality of LEDs. The color of light emitted by the second set of LEDs may be selectable to indicate a condition of the thoroughfare in a direction of travel of the observer. Additionally, the first sidewall may taper in a direction of the distal face.

Provided herein are systems and methods for outdoor lighting, which generally include two or more light sources. One light source is a monochromatic light source producing a light with a peak wavelength of about 580 nm or above. A second light source is a polychromatic light source producing a green-tint white light. During a standby operational mode, a control system maintains the first light source illuminated. The control system, which includes an integrated imaging system, illuminates the second light source when the imaging system identifies a target in an illumination area. Methods of preparing and using such outdoor lighting system are also provided.
