Disclosed herein are compositions and methods for the manufacture of polycarbonate blend compositions containing recycle for improvement in surface aesthetics. The resulting compositions, can be used in the manufacture of articles while still retaining the advantageous physical properties of polycarbonate blend reference compositions that do not contain recycle material. Polycarbonate blend compositions containing recycle for improvement in surface aesthetics

An impact resistant polycarbonate composition having improved resistance to polymer degradation comprises an aromatic polycarbonate in admixture with an elastomer-modified graft copolymer that is the product of an emulsion polymerization process, wherein composition is a product of compounding the aromatic polycarbonate and the elastomer-modified graft copolymer in the presence of a buffer comprising a potassium salt of phosphoric acid.

Polymer compositions, method of manufacture, and articles formed therefrom

This disclosure relates generally to methods for the manufacture of transparent polymer compositions exhibiting refractive indices similar or even identical to the refractive index of polycarbonate. Also disclosed are polymer blends comprising the disclosed polymer compositions blended with one or more convention polycarbonate.

Copolymers and polymer blends having improved refractive indices

Disclosed herein are methods and compositions of blended polycarbonate resins with improved hydrolytic stability. A thermoplastic composition comprising in combination a polycarbonate, a polycarbonate-polysiloxane copolymer, an impact modifier composition comprising ABS or BABS, a second impact modifier different from BABS or ABS, an aromatic vinyl copolymer, and optionally a gel-type low gloss additive, wherein the 60&#xb0; gloss of the thermoplastic composition is measured to be less than or equal to 14 GU on 3 millimeter chips having a textured surface when measured according to ASTM D2457, and wherein a molded sample of the thermoplastic composition has a low temperature notched Izod impact at &#x2212;40&#xb0; C. of at least 65 KJ/mwhen measured according to ISO 180/1A is disclosed. The composition has low gloss, high low temperature impact, and a significantly improved balance of properties.

Polycarbonate compositions with improved molding capability

A thermoplastic composition comprising a polycarbonate, an impact modifier, an aromatic vinyl copolymer, and a polyorganosiloxane has excellent mechanical properties, in addition to suitable low gloss performance. An article may be formed by molding, extruding, shaping or forming such a composition to form the article.

Thermoplastic polycarbonate compositions with low gloss, articles made therefrom and method of manufacture

An aromatic carbonate polymer composition having improved thermal stability consisting of an aromatic carbonate polymer such as a polycarbonate or polycarbonate/polyester blend and an impact modifier which is free of alkali materials which catalytically degrade a polycarbonate. Also an impact modifier which is preferably of a shell-core structure prepared by the emulsion polymerization process and has a pH of about 3 to about 8. A preferred emulsifier is an alkyl sulfonate having an alkyl group of C6-C18 carbons.

Also provided are thermally stabilized multi-stage polyorganosiloxane/polyvinyl-based graft polymers which have improved color-imparting and impact resistance-imparting properties and thermoplastic compositions containing the same.
