An electronic lock assembly includes an exterior assembly, an interior assembly, and a latch having a deadbolt movable between an extended position and a retracted position, the latch being movable in response to rotation of a torque blade. The electronic lock includes a motor within the interior assembly and operable to rotate the torque blade, and a control circuit operatively connected to the motor and configured to selectively actuate the motor. A mortise insert includes a battery subassembly electrically connectable to the control circuit.

A rekeyable lock cylinder with a cylinder body and a plug assembly. The lock cylinder includes a plurality of key followers and a corresponding plurality of racks disposed in the plug assembly. The lock cylinder includes, for example, a locking bar for blocking rotation of the plug assembly with respect to the cylinder body to prevent unlocking of the rekeyable lock cylinder with an unauthorized object. In some embodiments, the locking bar is configured such that torqueing the plug assembly with an unauthorized object applies force to the locking bar without translating such force to the plurality of racks. This type of arrangement enhances torque resistance of the lock cylinder against attempted forced entry.

A handle assembly includes a removable handle positioned over a sleeve. The handle assembly includes a catch positioned within the sleeve, and when extended, the catch prevents relative movement between the handle and the sleeve. The handle assembly includes a spindle positioned within the sleeve. The spindle has a longitudinal axis. The spindle is rotatable between a locked position and an unlocked position. When in the locked position, the sleeve is not rotatable, and when in the unlocked position, the sleeve is rotatable. The handle assembly includes a support structure that is configured to support the spindle. The support structure is in a fixed rotational relationship with respect to the handle. When the catch is in an extended position and the spindle is in the locked position, deflection of the spindle in a direction transverse to the longitudinal axis is resisted by way of the support structure.

An adapter for either a handle set or a lever set door lever is equipped with a pair of springs to provide a pre-load on the spindle. The pre-load prevents sagging of the lever due to the large mass of the lever. A sleeve in the adapter is formed out of a compressible material that accepts the spindle in a press-fit configuration. This allows for greater manufacturing tolerances while still providing a solid and secure engagement between the spindle and the adapter. As a result, any free play in the lever is eliminated and the lever is maintained in a horizontal, home position when the lever is not in use. Following use through rotation of the lever, the springs promptly return the lever back to the home position while the sleeve prevents any slop or free-play in the lever's motion.

The assembly includes an internal spring actuating mechanism. The assembly also includes a touch keypad subassembly configured to detect touches to at least a portion of its surface.

An electronic lock includes a latch assembly that includes a bolt that is movable between an extended position and a retracted position. The electronic lock includes a keypad for receiving a keypad input event. The electronic lock includes a processing unit being configured to control the movement of the bolt between the extended position and the retracted position responsive to receiving a valid keypad input event. The processing unit is configured to capture the keypad input event. Based at least in part on a characteristic of the keypad input event, the processing unit indicates if a tampering event exists. The characteristic includes at least one of an input location on the keypad, an input duration on the keypad, and an input timestamp.
