A vent proving system is described for use with a gas fired appliance. The gas fired appliance includes a gas burner, a vent damper for selectively opening or closing an exhaust vent from the gas fired appliance and a relay control for operatively controlling the vent damper and the gas burner to open the damper if the gas burner is on. The vent proving system comprises a sensor for sensing a variable in the vent representing air flow direction in the vent. An electrical switch is connected in series between the relay control and the vent damper. A controller is operatively connected to the sensor, the electrical switch and to the relay control.

Vent proving system

A vent proving system is described for use with a gas fired appliance. The gas fired appliance includes a gas burner, a vent damper for selectively opening or closing an exhaust vent from the gas fired appliance and a relay control for operatively controlling the vent damper and the gas burner to open the damper if the gas burner is on. The vent proving system comprises a sensor for sensing a variable in the vent representing air flow direction in the vent. An electrical switch is connected in series between the relay control and the vent damper. A controller is operatively connected to the sensor, the electrical switch and to the relay control. The controller determines if a back draft condition is present in the vent when the gas burner is on and selectively operates the electrical switch to open the connection between the relay control and the vent damper if a back draft condition is present in the vent when the gas burner is on.

A system for adjusting a position of a lighting element is disclosed. The system comprises a first bracket and a second bracket, where the second bracket is coupled to a lighting element. The second bracket is movable relative to the first bracket. The first bracket may be fixed in place. The second bracket may be movable in both longitudinal and radial directions relative to the first bracket.

Adjustable bracket assembly for an ultraviolet lamp

A control system is disclosed for a house HVAC system including a thermostat, supply and return air plenums and an HVAC fan. The thermostat selectively controls the HVAC system to maintain the desired temperature and resulting in a variable operating cycle period between successive on times. A fresh air intake duct is between an exterior intake vent and the return air plenum. A stale air exhaust duct is between the return air plenum and an exterior exhaust vent. The control system comprises a controllable intake damper in the fresh air intake duct and a controllable exhaust damper in the stale air exhaust duct. A controller is operatively connected to the house HVAC fan and the controllable dampers. The controller predicts an upcoming cycle period for a next successive operating cycle and calculates a fresh air vent time.

Whole house ventilation system

A fluid filter having a frame and filter media supported by the frame through which a fluid to be treated is directed. The frame has at least first and second frame assemblies that are reconfigurable to place the filter selectively in: a) a first predetermined operative state; and b) a second predetermined operative state. The frame cooperates with the filter media so that the filter media: i) extends over a first intake area with the filter in the first predetermined operative state; and ii) extends over a second intake area that is different than the first intake area with the filter in the second predetermined operative state.

Collapsible filter

A direct sidewall vent system between a fuel-burning appliance in a first space and an external atmosphere, through a wall between the first space and external atmosphere. The direct sidewall vent system has a wall assembly that defines a first passage for communicating combustion gas generated through operation of the fuel-burning appliance to a first outlet through which the combustion gas is communicated to the external atmosphere. The wall assembly further defines a second passage for communicating makeup air from the external atmosphere to the fuel-burning appliance in the first space. The direct sidewall vent system further has an external portion that is situated within the external atmosphere and at which the first outlet is located. The external portion of the direct sidewall vent system has a top, a bottom, and spaced sides. The external portion of the direct sidewall vent system has a first inlet within the external atmosphere through which makeup air from the external atmosphere is communicated to the second passage. The first inlet is situated to draw makeup air from the external atmosphere primarily from a location above the first outlet.
