Coin operated vending machines and vending methods for self service car washes that vend different commodities or services at a united price. The machines vend vacuum at different speeds, and spot remover or fragrance. Each machine has a computer-controlled, multi-segmented bar graph providing an analog indication of the amount of a vend that remains, and a dot matrix system for displaying text messages. The bar graph has multiple adjacent segments each having multiple cells that contain separate LEDS of different colors. The bar graph provides a relative, analog indication of the amount of a particular commodity remaining to be vended. When a vend starts, all of the bar graph segments are illuminated and as vending continues, bar graph segments and individually cells are sequentially decremented. Different products are associated with different colors. The customer may switch selections while a credit balance remains, and bar graph illumination is reset to 100%.

A vending machine and a hose controller system for vending machines wherein the dispenser hose is axially and torsionally controlled to facilitate slight twisting, thereby minimizing applicator tool resistance, and making it easier for users to operate the remote vending tool on the hose distal end. The elongated reinforced applicator hose terminates at the controller, which bridges the hose between the outdoors and the cabinet interior. The controller has an angulated bracket mounted within the vending machine cabinet. A collar assembly secured on the bracket top above a hose feed-through orifice has a terminator, a bushing, and a cooperating yoke that are coaxially secured. The terminator anchors the hose end and is seated within the yoke. A rigid lug projects radially from the yoke. A rigid restrictor surmounts the collar assembly and limits rotation by contact with the lug.

An electronic alarm and a vending machine equipped with the alarm monitors a plurality of zones by suitable circuitry to detect vandalism and theft. Each zone has a mechanically-triggered sensor that provides an electrical output. The zones comprise a pair of door sensors and a separate, shock sensor. A solid-state logic circuit includes a red and green indicator light, and a loud warning buzzer ultimately triggered by the sensors. A circuit time delay and logic scheme analyzes sensor status, and separate false-alarm prevention circuits insure proper triggering after a predetermined delay. Alarm status is indicated by highly visible green and red status lights mounted on the door. A buzzer sounds in response to sensor activation and circuit logic. A back-up battery that is coupled to the logic circuitry for fail-safe operation includes an automatic recharge system, and dual red and green LED's monitor battery condition.

Combined vacuum cleaner with fragrance dispenser or carpet shampooer

A fragrance dispensing machine for full service car wash installations administers a carefully controlled amount of fragrance concentrate to precisely scent customer vehicles. The machine is preferably mounted upon a wall adjacent the car wash lane for convenient access vehicles being washed. An associated hand-operated applicator gun interconnected with the machine administers a uniform dose of fragrance concentrate during each application, which is outputted as a fine mist. The machine cabinet provides storage space for bottles of fragrance concentrate. An external source of air pressure is applied to the cabinet for generating the mist. An elongated conduit interconnects the applicator gun and the machine and separate conductive tubes within the gun conduit individually transmit air and fragrance concentrates to an atomizer manifold disposed within the applicator gun. Mixing of air and fragrance concentrate is performed within the atomizer through vacuum venturi suction. High pressure air driven through the atomizer and the gun barrel sucks fragrance concentrate out of an adjacent fragrance manifold passageway. Fragrance misting is performed in the applicator gun to minimize fragrance contamination. Operation is monitored and controlled by the machine circuit remotely disposed within the cabinet.

Full service car wash fragrance dispensing machine

A dry foaming coin operated carpet and upholstery cleaning machine for a car washes. A rigid, generally box-like cabinet is secured in a convenient user accessible position. An elongated hose extending from the housing terminates in a user-activated brush which outputs foam and facilitates vigorous cleaning. The control circuit comprises a conventional coin mechanism which operates a timer to initiate a vend. The timer first activates an air compressor, which supplies high pressure air to the system. A remote user switch associated with the brush must be activated to thereafter activate a pump to supply cleaning solution, and to close an air solenoid for air mixing. Simultaneously a heater is activated to heat the control block disposed within the brush. A brush control block properly mixes air and cleaning solution. An elongated heater compartment preheats incoming air, which is thereafter mixed with cleaning solution and discharged through a foam generating chamber in the block. A velocity increasing orifice intercommunicates the mixing chamber with the foam generating chamber, and dry foaming is further enhanced with a sponge-like packing insert disposed within the generating chamber. Spraying is avoided to prevent dampness.

A coin operated dispenser for spraying desired fragrances interiorly of an automobile or vehicle. Preferably the dispenser includes a generally cubical, rigid, cabinet adapted to be mounted to a rigid support. Containers of fragrances to be dispensed are disposed within the cabinet. A compressor delivers air pressure to a coin operated control system for selectively outputting desired fragrances through a remote manually actuable spray gun. Customers are attracted by a visually pleasing display module associated with the cabinet. The module includes a rigid enclosure having a top, a bottom, and a translucent front permitting the visual inspection of its interior. Preferably a pair of cylindrical containment compartments disposed within the enclosure extend between the top and bottom thereof. Each containment compartment includes a bottom mounted, preferably cylindrical fluid control compartment and a top mounted cylindrical fluid control compartment. Vents are provided to establish fluid flow communication between the fluid control compartments and the interior of the containment compartment. An elongated tubular passageway extends between the first and second fluid control compartments. A viscous display oil disposed within the containment compartment may be pumped from the interior of the first fluid control compartment up through the passageway into the interior of the second fluid control compartment creating a visually appealing bubbling effect. Bubbling fluid reaching the upper fluid control compartment will drop downwardly through the vents provided in same to be subsequently recycled.
