A method of separating a cell-containing sample into a substantially cell-depleted portion, and a cell-containing portion comprising at least one of a stem cell, a lymphocyte, and a leukocyte comprises a step in which the sample is received in a vessel with at least one flexible wall. In another step, an additive and particles are added to the sample, wherein the additive substantially binds to the at least one of the stem cell, lymphocyte, and leukocyte, and the particles and wherein the particles substantially bind to the at least one of the stem cell, lymphocyte, and leukocyte, and the additive, thereby producing a cell-containing network. In a further step, the network is separated from the substantially cell-depleted portion by applying a magnetic force.

Diagnostic device and method

A method useful for the enumeration of cell populations in a biological sample includes the steps of reacting in a single reaction mixture a sample, a first antibody labeled with a fluorochrome having a first emission spectrum and an additional antibody. The first antibody binds to an antigenic determinant differentially expressed on leukocytes and non-leukocytes. The additional antibody binds to an antigenic determinant differentially expressed on mature and immature granulocytes or myeloid cells, and is labeled either with the first fluorochrome or an additional fluorochrome having an emission spectrum distinguishable from the first emission spectrum. The reaction mixture can be mixed with a nucleic acid dye having an emission spectrum that overlaps with one of the first or additional emission spectra. The reaction mixture may be treated with a lytic system that differentially lyses non-nucleated red blood cells and conserves leukocytes. Populations of hematological cells are detected and enumerated using at least two parameters (fluorescence, optical, and electrical) for each population.

Method for a fully automated monoclonal antibody-based extended differential

A vertical blind system installed over a window area has a plurality of carrier and hanger assembly units, each of which has a vertical louver or vane suspended from it. The unit has two major subcomponents. They are a frame having a chamber, and a replaceable, manually insertable cartridge having a pendant member for holding the individual blind. The frame has a top circular bearing and a resilient retaining clip which holds the cartridge in position in the chamber. Whenever the cartridge becomes broken, the service technician can quickly snap out the broken cartridge and reinsert a new one. This can be done without the inconvenience and time consuming task of dismantling the entire vertical blind system to repair a single carrier and hanger assembly unit.

A carrier is designed for holding and independently adjusting a hanging vertical louver. A plurality of carriers form a blind for creating privacy and modifying the amount of light transmitted through a window and into a room. The carriers are movable along the channels of an overhead rail which is installed at the top of the window casement. The louvers can be oscillated in a synchronized manner by rotating a splined shaft running through each carrier. Each carrier provides for adjustment of its supported louver to allow the face of the louver to be independently adjusted and reset vis-a-vis the window and the other louvers. There is another adjustment spacer for allowing the plurality of carriers, and therefore louvers, to be evenly spaced in a window casement having a non-standard width. The louver is securely but demountably attached to the carrier by a pendant member having a resilient pair of fingers. The pendant member allows the louver to hang vertically even when the headrail is not installed level.

The drapery and pin-hook dispensing and inserting tool is of a pistol grip type construction having a pin-hook chamber for a charge of pin hooks for gravity feed without a separate magazine. At the position of the handle or grip is a thumb actuated pin-hook feeder or dispenser and inserter. The pin-hook chamber is internally configurated to conform to the contour of pin-hooks so as to hold a line of pin hooks in position for dispensing. The chamber is provided with a hinged door so that a fresh charge or supply of pin-hooks can be inserted as a unit to be held in the chamber by its internal configuration and the configuration on the inside of the door. The handle or grip preferably is at a 90.degree. angle to the chamber.
