Embodiments described herein provide touchless temperature and/or flow control for water faucets utilizing the movements of a user's hand toward or away from to a dispensing area of the faucet. One embodiment comprises a water faucet that provides touchless control of water dispensed by the water faucet. The water faucet comprises a controller and a spout head. The spout head includes a sensor electrically coupled to the controller that detects a movement of a user's hand toward or away from the spout head. The controller initiates dispensing of the water from the spout head at a pre-defined rate, and varies the flow rate based on the movement of the user's hand toward or away from the spout head.

Touchless control of electronic water faucets

An ergonomic water conserving faucet assembly that pivots around a cognitive central point providing touchless water temperature, flow rate, volume control and spray pattern adjustment through multiple, hygienic means. The assembly comprises a pivotable, ergonomic, ball-shaped spout that may be used statically or hand held; a retractable water delivery hose connecting the spout to a water source; a water mixing valve at the water source delivering water of preselected temperature; solenoid valves controlling flow; proximity and object detection sensors mapping the sink area and detecting input signals; speech sensors with microphone for voice control; an LED display of water temperature; internal speakers delivering audible prompts; and an electronic controller recognizing speech and supervising operations.

Systems and methods reduce development, integration and testing time of a spacecraft implemented with one or more reconfigurable processor boards. Mission spacecraft design tools design, configure, simulate and analyze the spacecraft based upon constraints of the mission requirements. The mission spacecraft design tools utilize a database of defined module specifications and firmware components. One or more RPBs are programmed based upon the configuration and interfaced to other end item components defined by the configuration to form the spacecraft.

A system for collecting patient respiratory information includes a base unit and a removable mouthpiece unit. The mouthpiece unit includes sensors that sense parameters of a patient's breath when the patient blows into the mouthpiece unit. The base unit receives and processes the information from the mouthpiece unit and stores it in chronological fashion for later analysis by a physician. The mouthpiece unit includes a memory for storing identification information for a patient who has been assigned the mouthpiece unit. When the mouthpiece unit is inserted into the base unit, the base unit reads the identification information from the mouthpiece unit and stores all measurement information in association therewith. In this manner, a single base unit can be used to collect information for a plurality of different patients without creating confusion as to which measurement results correspond to which patients. A cable assembly can be disposed intermediate the mouthpiece unit and the base unit to allow the patient to view a display on the base unit while simultaneously exhaling into the mouthpiece unit.

Method and apparatus for obtaining patient respiratory data

An electronic medication chronolog device adapted for attachment to various shapes and sizes of conventional pressurized inhalant packages. The packages include in common an actuator housing with one end having a mouthpiece and an opposite end having an opening for receiving a vial/canister therein. The vial/canister having a valve stem used for dispensing a prescribed dosage of medication inhalant in an aerosol chamber inside the actuator housing. The aerosol chamber is disposed next to an outlet of the mouthpiece for dispensing the medication therethrough. The chronolog device includes computing and recording equipment with audio and visual display mounted in a chronolog housing. The chronolog housing is adapted for attachment to the actuator housing. A strain gauge sensing arm is attached to the computing equipment and extends through a hole in a side of the actuator housing for engaging a portion of the vial/canister next to the valve stem. The sensing arm senses and signals the computing equipment when the valve stem of the vial/canister is properly compressed for release of medication. Also, the sensing arm senses and signals the computing equipment when the vial/canister is engaged and disengaged inside the actuator housing Further, a fast response thermistor is connected to the computing equipment and disposed between the hole in the side of the actuator housing and an opening in the chronolog housing. The thermistor senses and signals each occurrence and amount of inhale air flow and exhale air flow in the actuator housing.

Electronic medication chronolog device

A portable hand held electronic spirometric device for analyzing the strength of the exhalation of a patient under a doctor's care. The electronic spirometric device is designed to sense and measure exhaled air flow rate and exhaled breath temperature, determine air flow volume, and record and display the respiratory movement of the patient for helping make medication recommendations. The spirometric device includes an electronic package mounted inside a hand held housing for computing and recording the strength, the temperature, and the volume of the exhalation along with the time and date of the exhalation. The device includes a replaceable air flow chamber mounted on the housing. A disposable mouthpiece is releasably attached to the air flow chamber. A hot wire acting as an anemometer is disposed inside the air flow chamber and provides for measuring both air flow rate and temperature. An output of the hot wire is connected to electronic circuitry inside the housing for determining the proper proportion and evaluation of the peak flow rates and volumes along with recording the exact time and date of the measured event. The device is also designed to give interpretive feedback and recommendations which are pre-programmed by the doctor for the patient and to detect before hand a possible chronic episode, for example a pending asthmatic attack, and alert the patient to take necessary medication to avert the episode. The portable device may be periodically connected to a computer system to up-load stored information and provide a chronological report stored therein for analysis by the doctor. The stored data can be transferred from the spirometric device via telephone and modem to the doctor's office.

Portable electronic spirometric device

A dry powder inhalant device adapted for mounting on a conventional medication dry powder dispenser having a mouthpiece incorporated in one end of the dispenser. The device designed for monitoring prescribed dosages of dry powder medication received through the mouthpiece, the lips and into the mouth, throat, and respiratory system of a user of the device. The device includes an electronic housing mounted on the dispenser for computing and recording when a proper amount of dry powder is released inside the dispenser, when a proper amount of air flow is inhaled through the dispenser for mixing with the dry powder, and when each dispenser or dry powder container is removed and replaced on the electronic housing. The dispenser, in one embodiment, includes an activation sheath received around and secured to a portion of the dispenser. A lower end of the sheath abuts the electronic housing with the mouthpiece extending upwardly and through an upper end of the sheath. The electronic housing includes a first and second proximity reed switch for recording when a proper dosage of dry powder is released inside the dispenser by properly rotating the sheath and dispenser a fixed distance in one direction on the electronic housing and rotating the sheath and dispenser a fixed distance in an opposite direction. The electronic housing also includes a fast response thermistor for measuring when sufficient air flow is being drawn into the housing, into the dispenser and mixed with the dry powder and out the mouthpiece when using the device.

A leak detector including a float having a number of magnets connected to the float. Electromagnetic coils are disposed along a length of the possible range of travel of the float within the leak detector. The coils, when energized, interact with the magnet making the float move-about and settle to a position representing its true equilibrium buoyancy. Optionally, the leak detector includes a self-calibration apparatus that provides a reference signal indicting the fixed position of the self-calibration apparatus, allowing the leak detector to compensate for offset errors.

An electronic water faucet is disclosed, including means for detecting the presence of an object near an outlet of said faucet and determining whether or not noise or reflected light is being sensed. The faucet includes a swivelable spout relative to a main body. Position sensing means for sensing the angular position of the spout are included. The angular positions which the spout can assume are designed to various zones, and those zones are programmed to be active or not active in an automatic mode of operation of the faucet. A rotary mixing valve for supplying and mixing hot and cold water using a cam and deformable seal is used to partially seal hot and cold water inlets.

A portable pill storage and dispensing device adapted to record the time one or more pills are dispensed on demand or emits a time alarm as a reminder which events are recorded for future interrogation and where a novel pill-retaining cavity closure is selectively activated to disperse one or more pills. The device consists of a keyboard assembly which also stores and dispenses the pills and an electronic assembly which records the data regarding key closures whenever a pill is dispensed.
