A retention member and a feeding tube having a feeding lumen and an inflation lumen. The retention member including a sleeve section, an expandable section, and a shoulder section of decreasing wall thickness therebetween. The sleeve section sealingly engages the feeding tube distal end and the expandable section everts about the shoulder section to sealingly engage the feeding tube and define an expandable lumen in communication with the inflation lumen.

A system for detecting the position of an object within a body of biological tissue includes a resonant circuit attached to the object and a probe including a receiver/transmitter that operates at the resonant frequency of the object. The resonant circuit rings in response to pulses transmitted from the probe thereby activating receiver circuits which control a visual display indicating the direction the probe should be moved to center it over the object. When the object is centered a second visual display provides confirmation.

An apparatus may be employed for determining the relaxation rate of a muscle which has been caused to contract in response to an electrical stimulus. The relaxation rate may be used in evaluating a person's nutritional status. The apparatus has support for supporting the forearm and wrist of a person in a palm-up position with the wrist extended. An electrical stimulus is applied to the person's ulnar nerve, and the force exerted upon a load cell by the person's thumb is measured. A computer is employed for receiving, storing, plotting and analyzing the force data collected by a transducer.
