An on-line approach to coordinating intradepartmental anatomic pathology consultations, including coordinating access to physical case materials and/or electronic case materials, is provided. In accordance with one method in a clinical computing environment, a command to initiate a share event for an anatomic pathology case is received. One or more share recipients are determined manually and/or automatically for the share event. In addition, whether any physical case materials and/or electronic case materials are associated with the anatomic pathology case is determined. If any physical case materials and/or electronic case materials are associated with the anatomic pathology case, share recipient access to the materials is coordinated. After each share recipient reviews the case, the share recipient may enter comments.

Inventory tracking for anatomic pathology consultations

An on-line approach to coordinating intradepartmental anatomic pathology consultations is provided. In accordance with one method in a clinical computing environment, a command to initiate the share event for the anatomic pathology case is received. Review of the anatomic pathology case by one or more share recipients is then coordinated by the system. Coordination of the share event may include tracking the location of physical case materials associated with the anatomic pathology case. Finally, the system may receive an indication that the share event for the anatomic pathology case has been completed.

Coordinating anatomic pathology consultations and inventory tracking

A computerized system and method for allowing restricted access to patient healthcare information is provided. Upon determining that one or more users are assigned to the location where an order for a patient is to be performed, the method allows one or more users restricted access to the order. The system includes an order entry module, an access evaluation module, a location entry module and a user module. The access evaluation module includes an assignment determination sub-module for determining whether one or more users are assigned to the specified location where an order for a patient is to be performed. The assignment determination module also includes a restricted access sub-module coupled with the assignment determination module and configured to allow restricted access to one or more users assigned to the specified location.
