Scuba tank compressed air can now power a dual piston compound motor driving dual water thrusters of a steady pulling underwater propulsion vehicle. Motor exhaust provides diver breathing air through a demand regulator. Motor efficiency allows continual, powerful diver thrust without curtailing normal tank dive time. Lightweight vehicle can be strapped to the scuba tank for 'hands free' operation or 'diver held' for driving through the water. Diver controls off/on/variable speed with a simple throttle control. Propeller or battery is not required.

A tire repair plug that is stretched in an insertion tool and inserted into a bored-out tire injury. The plug includes a cylindrical stem and a conical head disposed at the leading end of the cylindrical stem. A circular transverse opening is located slightly axially interior to the leading end of the cylindrical stem. A bearing surface is located at the bottom of the transverse opening to prevent the plug from sliding off the insertion tool. A transverse slit extends from the transverse opening to a trailing end of the stem and bisects the cylindrical stem into two halves with semi-circular cross-sections. The two halves have adjoining inner walls. Disposed along the outside of the cylindrical stem and along the inner walls is cushion gum sheet. A protective covering is disposed along the outside of the cushion gum sheet until the plug is ready for use.

Tire repair apparatus

A microbial cleaner comprising at least one hydrocarbon-ingesting microbe strain and a biocatalyst transforms hydrocarbons into nontoxic substances. The biocatalyst includes a nonionic surfactant, a chlorine-absorbing salt, at least one microbe nutrient, and water. The cleaner can be used in virtually any situation requiring the removal of hydrocarbon, including cleaning contaminated soil and treating oil spills on soil and water.

Microbial cleaner

A portable, lightweight, self-contained auxiliary power source for starting a motor vehicle, heavy equipment, power boat and the like having a defective starter battery is disclosed. The auxiliary power source includes a generally upright housing defining a chamber having a bottom section and a closable top section. A battery is provided that is adapted to be received within the chamber and includes a plurality of cells. The battery has a positive terminal and a negative terminal. A pair of cables are provided that have a proximal end and a distal end, each of the proximal ends include clamps being detachably connected to one of the respective terminals of the battery and the distal ends each include an alligator clamp for being detachably connected to the respective terminal of the defective battery. A light is connected to one of the alligator clamps for illuminating the work area.

A temperature sensitive data storage element is disclosed, suitable for application in an erasable optical read/write data storage system. The data storage element includes an optical tuning film and a film of thermochromic phase change material which will change from a first phase to a second phase at temperatures in excess of an upper temperature and back to the first phase at temperatures below a lower temperature. In one application, a thermally controlled support member may be employed to temporarily lower the temperature on the storage element to a point below the lower temperature, thereby initializing the element. In one embodiment, the storage element is a planar, suitably circular disk. In use, the storage element is adapted to be initialized by a modulated laser beam which may be focused on the storage element to temporarily heat particular portions of the element to a temperature in excess of the upper temperature, causing a phase change. A method of manufacturing such a storage disk is also taught wherein a reflective metal layer is disposed on a substrate member under a film of phase change material, with a layer of dielectric turning material interposed between the metal layer and the film of phase change material.

Frasable optical read/write data storage disc

An erasable optical read/write data storage system is disclosed. The data storage system utilizes a temperature sensitive data storage disk which includes an optical tuning film and a film of thermochromic phase change material which will change from a first phase to a second phase at temperatures in excess of an upper temperature and back to the first phase at temperatures below a lower temperature. An environmentally controlled chamber is provided to maintain the data storage disk at a selected bias temperature between the lower and upper temperatures to ensure that no unintentional phase change will occur. A thermally controlled support member is utilized to temporarily lower the temperature of the disk to a point below the lower temperature, thereby initializing the disk. A modulated laser beam is then focused on the disk to temporarily heat particular portions of the disk to a temperature in excess of the upper temperature, causing a phase change. The same laser beam at lower power levels may be utilized to optically discern the phase of a particular portion of the disk by means of the variations in reflectivity between the two phases. In a preferred mode of the present invention, a plurality of storage disks are utilized and transfer means are provided to maintain each disk at the bias temperature during storage and transfer. In still another mode of the invention, individually controllable groups of thermoelectric elements embedded near the surface of an integrated disk and support member may be utilized to selectively heat and cool particular sections of the data storage disk, thereby permitting selective erasure of portions of the data encoded thereon.

Erasable optical read/write data storage system

A device capable of spatially modulating a collimated read-out light beam with an input image is described. The most essential elements of the key unit in this device include a photoconducting layer, charged grille-structure, an elastomer, and a thin metal anode. Real-time and storage operation is possible.

Catalysts found to be particularly effective in the dehydrogenation of alkyl aromatics, for example ethylbenzene to styrene, where the catalysts include iron oxide, 12 to 30% of an alkali metal compound, 3 to 7% of a cerium compound, 1.5 to 6.0% of a molybdenum compound and 1 to 8% of a calcium compound. Catalyst can also include 0 to 8.0% of a chromium compound.

Cross-correlation of an image with a reference pattern is done in order to etermine recognizable content and gives a sharp correlation peak whenever both image and pattern are edge-enhanced, darkfield representations. Incoherent light, conventional optics and electronics are used to obtain edge-enhanced, darkfield representations which are obtained by sending the light from the object through a dual-aperture unit to a lens so that a recording medium located forward of the focusing plane of the lens will receive light blocked alternately by the regular (perimeter) stop and the central stop and will record the difference.

The improved tire repair device includes a disposable protective tip which protects a plug being inserted into a tubeless tire from damage caused by belts under the tire tread, especially by steel belts. The tip is cone-shaped and is optionally constructed of flexible material in a manner which allows the tip to collapse to conform to the size and shape of small injuries to the tire.
