A lanced strip of generally thin ferromagnetic material adapted to be edgewise wound into a core for a dynamoelectric machine. The lanced strip has a continuous yoke section extending generally lengthwise thereof, and a plurality of teeth on the lanced strip have preselected pitch axii and extend generally laterally from the yoke section, repsectively. A plurality of extensions on the lanced strip extend generally laterally from the yoke section on the pitch axii of the teeth and opposite thereto, respectively.

A lanced strip of generally thin ferromagnetic material adapted to be edgewise wound into a core for a dynamoelectric machine. The lanced strip has a continuous yoke section extending generally lengthwise thereof, and a plurality of teeth on the lanced strip have preselected pitch axes and extend generally laterally from the yoke section, respectively. A plurality of extensions on the lanced strip extend generally laterally from the yoke section on the pitch axes of the teeth and opposite thereto, respectively. A method of assembling a switch and terminal assembly with an end frame of a dynamoelectric machine. In this method, a casing of the switch and terminal assembly is arranged in an assembly position on the end frame, and a separate ground terminal is associated with the casing so as to be arranged generally in row formation with an electrical connection section of at least some of the terminals of the switch and terminal assembly. The ground terminal is then secured in ground circuit relations with the end frame.

A method of assembling a dynamoelectric machine. The dynamoelectric machine includes at least one end frame having a hub portion extending therefrom, and a cushioning device. The cushioning device has a pair of generally annular cylindric mounts associated generally concentrically with one of the mounts having an axial length greater than that of the other of the mounts, and a resilient material is interconnected between the mounts. In practicing this method, a part of the one mount is mounted in engagement about the hub, and thereby the other mount is disposed in a preselected position axially beyond the hub portion of the at least one end frame.

A method of assembling a stationary assembly for a dynamoelectric machine includes associating at least one beam in a preselected assembly position with a core at least adjacent a circumferential portion thereof. A set of sections of the core at least adjacent the circumferential sections thereof are deformed into gripping engagement with the at least one beam, respectively, and thereby the at least one beam is retained against displacement from the selected assembly position thereof.

In a method of assembling a stator, a casing of a terminal assembly is placed in seating relation with a circumferential surface of the stator and secured in such seating relation. Integral winding leads of the stator winding means are spanned across an outer circumferential portion of an end turn grouping of the stator winding means into engagement with electrical connector sections of terminals on the casing, and the integral winding leads are interconnected in direct terminating engagement with the electrical connector sections of the terminals, respectively. Windings carried by the stator have a pair of generally annular groupings of end turns with outer circumferential portions arranged adjacent the opposite end turn portions of the stator, and a set of integral leads of the windings extend from one of the end turn groupings beyond and in spanning relation with a part of the outer circumferential portion. A terminal assembly is disposed in seating relation on the circumferential surface of the stator and has a set of terminals with at least some of the terminals being connected in direct terminating engagement with the integral leads of the windings, respectively. A stator and methods of assembling a stator with a terminal assembly are also disclosed.

A cushioning device for a dynamoelectric machine has a pair of generally annular cylindric mounts arranged generally concentrically with each other, and each mount has a pair of opposite end portions defining the axial length thereof, with the axial length of one of the mounts being predeterminately greater than that of the other of the mounts. A resilient material is interconnected between the mounts, and the resilient material extends from at least adjacent one of the opposite end portions of the mounts generally axially beyond the other of the opposite end portions of the other mount toward the other of the opposite end portions of the one mount. A dynamoelectric machine is also disclosed.

In this method, at least one of the assembly and the end frame is moved, and at least a part of deformable portions on hanger brackets of the assembly are sheared against surfaces on the end frame at the intersection of the surfaces with one of the opposite faces of the end frame, respectively. The remaining parts of the deformable portions on the hanger brackets are respectively passed into releasable gripping engagement with the one opposite face of the end frame, and thereby a wall in a casing of the assembly associated with the brackets is maintained against the other of the opposite faces of the end frame.

A dynamoelectric machine has a stator with a pair of opposite end faces and an interposed circumferential surface. Windings carried by the stator have a pair of annular groupings of end turns with outer circumferential portions arranged adjacent the opposite end turn portions of the stator, and a set of integral leads of the windings extend from one of the end turn groupings beyond a part of the outer circumferential portion. A terminal assembly is seated on the circumferential surface of the stator, and has a set of terminals with at least some of the terminals being connected in direct terminating engagement with the integral leads of the windings.

A method of assembling a dynamoelectric machine having at least one end frame and a stator assembly. The end frame has a set of apertures extending therethrough, and the stator assembly includes a stator core, a set of beams mounted thereto, and at least one set of tabs on the beams, respectively. In practicing this method, the end frame is disposed in an assembly position with respect to the stator core, and the tabs are received in the apertures in spaced apart relation therefrom with free end portions of the tabs extending beyond the end frame. The free end portions are displaced into overlaying relation with confronting parts of the end frame, and overlaying sections of the free end portions and the confronting parts of the end frame in the overlaying relation thereof are clinched together.
