A cap, jacket, shirt, or sweatshirt displaying the logos of two rival adjacent a field, court, mat or rink depicting the sport in which the teams vie. These logos may be readily ripped-off, being attached by hook-and-loop fabric, or the like, to enable the following week's rivalry to be displayed on the same item of apparel. The wearer's preference is displayed on that item of apparel by means of a team name/logo/exhortational message displayed elsewhere on the item than in the display region and by a red 'DIS' cord stretched across the team the wearer wishes to lose in a manner reminiscent of the international NOT! display.

A clamp secures disks to a hub through means of a push-on retaining ring which is engaged with a grip ring received in an annular groove extending around the hub. The grip ring is split and expansible to enable it to be engaged with, or removed from, the groove. Spaced detent grooves are formed in the external surface of the grip ring to provide different positions at which the retaining ring may be engaged with the grip ring to alter the degree of compression imparted to the disks by the retaining ring. The retaining ring may be pushed fully past the grip ring to release the clamp. An installation and release fixture is provided to selectively move the retaining ring over the grip ring.

Releasable controlled force clamp for disk storage apparatus

In the present invention, an improved retaining member for a disc drive is disclosed. The disc drive has a spindle with a plurality of data storage discs mounted on the spindle. The retaining member is in the shape of a ring with a central hole and a plurality of spaced-apart teeth-shaped members positioned circumferentially about the ring and protruding into the central hole. The retaining member is positioned with the spindle through the central hole and substantially abuts one of the data storage discs. The plurality of teeth-shaped members are urged against the side of the spindle.

Retaining clamp for a disc storage apparatus

In the present application, a disc storage apparatus is disclosed. The disc drive is of the type that has a transducer head assembly connected to a pivoting assembly at one end thereof. The other end of the pivoting assembly is pivotally movable about a pivot axis. A voice coil motor is used to actuate the pivoting assembly to move the transducer heads over the surface of the data discs. The pivoting assembly further has a support member connecting the transducer assembly to the pivot axis. The support member has an arcuate region substantially at the location of the voice coil motor which is near the center of percussion. The arcuate region is arched in a direction to the plurality of discs and provides greater mechanical stability, thereby resulting in greater frequency response.

A tree stand taking the form of a foldable sheet material housing having a planar base and a plurality of evenly spaced side wall members extending therefrom. The outermost end of each of the side wall members are to cooperate together to form an enclosed area. A support ring is to be located about the outermost ends forming a polygonal shaped enclosed area. Thread fasteners are to threadingly extend through the support ring into the enclosed area and are adapted to come into contact with the trunk of the supported tree which in turn extends within the formed interior chamber of the housing. The interior chamber of the housing includes a flexible walled water tight container within which is to be located a quantity of water. The free end of the trunk of the tree is to rest upon a resilient pad of material secured to the inside surface of the container located adjacent the base of the sheet material housing.

A linear actuator for selectively moving a carriage relative to a support frame along a predefined linear path. The linear actuator includes a drive shaft having a cylindrical surface fabricated of a first material, means for rotatably mounting the drive shaft to the frame for rotation of the drive shaft about the axis of the cylindrical surface, means coupled to the drive shaft for rotating the drive shaft about such axis, a carriage to be driven, a roller having a peripheral surface fabricated of a second material which is less hard than the first material, means for mounting the roller to the carriage with the roller being rotatable about a first axis, means for mounting the carriage to the support frame with the carriage being movable relative to the support frame along the predefined linear path and with the peripheral surface of the roller being in frictional engagement with the cylindrical surface of the drive shaft whereby the roller is caused to rotate about its first axis by rotation of the drive shaft when the first axis is parallel to the axis of the drive shaft and is additionally caused to move along the predefined linear path during rotation of the drive shaft when the first axis is oblique to the axis of the drive shaft, and means for controllably pivoting the roller about its second axis to control movement of the roller and thus the carriage along the predefined linear path.

Linear actuator

A linear actuator for selectively moving an assembly relative to a support frame along a predefined linear path. The linear actuator includes a drive shaft having a cylindrical surface, means for rotatable mounting the drive shaft to the frame for rotation of the drive shaft about the axis of the cylindrical surface, and means coupled to the drive shaft for rotating same about such axis. A carriage forms part of the assembly with the remainder of the assembly being mounted to the carriage and including a roller. Means are included for mounting the roller to the carriage with the roller being rotatable about a first axis and pivotable about a second axis perpendicular to the first axis. Means are also included for mounting the carriage to the support frame with the carriage and thus the assembly being movable relative to the support frame along the predefined linear path and with the roller being in frictional engagement with the cylindrical surface of the drive shaft whereby the roller is caused to rotate about the first axis by rotation of the drive shaft when the first axis is parallel to the axis of the drive shaft and is additionally caused to move along the predefined linear path during rotation of the drive shaft when the first axis is oblique to the axis of the drive shaft. The center of mass of the assembly lies along a line parallel to the axis of the drive shaft and substantially intersecting or at least closely adjacent the nip between the roller and the cylindrical surface of the drive shaft. Means are further included for controllably pivoting the roller about its second axis to control movement of the roller and thus the carriage and assembly along the predefined linear path during rotation of the drive shaft.

The means for mounting the carriage to the support frame includes means for biasing the roller against the cylindrical surface with a first level of force when the carriage is at an active position and with a second level of force when the carriage is at its inactive position.
