A method for determining a current spectrum for a circuit design is provided. The method includes determining timing characteristics and power consumption characteristics for the circuit design. From the timing characteristics and the power consumption characteristics a time domain current waveform is constructed. The time domain current waveform is then converted to a frequency domain current waveform. With the frequency domain waveform, one skilled in the art can then identify a location and an amount of decoupling capacitors for a printed circuit board housing the circuit design based on the frequency domain current waveform. A computing system configured to perform the method is also provided.

Prediction of dynamic current waveform and spectrum in a semiconductor device

The invention provides increased structural monitoring systems that have sensitive continuous coaxial cable sensors. A preferred embodiment sensor cable of the invention includes an inner conductor, a dielectric jacket, and an outer conductor that is configured to passively deform responsively to strain in an associated structure. The deformation can be aided by the physical structure of the dielectric jacket, the outer conductor, or a combination of both. The deformation translates strain into a measurable change in a reflection coefficient associated with the outer conductor.

Strain sensitive coax cable sensors for monitoring structures

A printed circuit board includes a power layer for use in providing electrical power to circuit components and a ground layer for use in carrying electrical current away from the circuit components. A loss element connects electrically between the power layer and ground layer to suppress electrical noise caused by changes in current flow in the circuit components.
