A wrap-around package that exposes the products within, but provides sufficient space for marketing and advertising materials. The wrap-around package comprises at least two container-receiving structures and a central compartment for display of a washing aid or other accessory. The package is formed from a base sheet having a plurality of fold-lines that define a plurality of panels. A method for forming a wrap-around package is also disclosed.

Wrap-around packages

A partially-shielded paperboard tray for heating food in a microwave oven is made from a unitary blank having two sections hingedly joined at a common edge. One section, which forms the bottom stratum of the tray, has a layer of aluminum foil for shielding food along the peripheral wall of the tray from microwave radiation, but the section also has a large aperture to allow the radiation to heat the center of food placed over the aperture. The other section of the blank, which forms the top stratum of the tray, is transparent to microwave radiation and provides an imperforate food-contact surface for retaining food in the tray.

A container body formed from two substantially identical interlocking container members with each of the container members comprising a substantially planer base portion and a plurality of opposing sidewalls connected to the base portion and tab portions extending from at least one pair of the opposing sidewalls with each of the tab portions including an opening and an adjacent interference element is set forth. The interference elements of a first of the two container members is received in respective openings of a second of the two container members for securing the second container member in an inverted condition with respect to the first container member. A blank for forming the respective container members similarly includes a base portion and at least two pairs of opposing sidewalls hingedly connected to the base portion along lines of weakness and tab portions extending from each sidewall of one of the pairs of opposing sidewalls with each of the tab portions including an opening and adjacent interference element. When erected, the container blank forms one of a cover or tray which are nestably received within one another for packaging, shipping and storing of the container members. When in use, the container body is erected by interlocking a first container member and a second container member. The container members are capable of being interlock with another irrespective of their longitudinal orientation with respect to one another. The tab portions of each of the container members which include both an interference member and an adjacent opening for receiving an interference member are aligned with one another even if the container members are rotated 180.degree. with respect to one another. Particularly, the tab portions on each of side walls are identical, thus the need to provide the correct longitudinal orientation is eliminated.

Container formed of identical container elements and blank for forming

A collapsible carton for containing articles such as prepared food and the like, including a plurality of side panels hingedly connected to one another by substantially parallel fold lines is disclosed. A bottom panel formed of a plurality of cooperating end panels hingedly connected to respective side panels and a closure for closing a top opening of the hexagonal carton with the closure being telescopically received within the top opening of the hexagonal carton and frictionally engaged with an inside surface of at least one of the side panels. Additionally, the closure may include a supplemental compartment formed therein for containing articles of a type different than that placed in the main body of the carton. In this case, a supplemental closure is provided which cooperates with the first closure for closing off the supplemental compartment. Preferably, the bottom panel is formed of a plurality of cooperating end panels including a main end panel which covers an entire inner surface of the bottom of the carton and which is hingedly connected to one of the side panels, a secondary end panel hingedly connected to a side panel diametrically opposed to the first mentioned side panel and adhered to an outer surface of the main panel, as well as two pairs of supporting end panels hingedly connected to the remaining side panels with each of said pairs of supporting end panels being adhered to one another and underlie at least a portion of the main end panel when the carton is in an erect condition.

A paperboard container for heating products placed therein by microwave energy having a first compartment substantially shielded from microwave energy and a second compartment permeable by microwave energy. The first and second compartments each include a top panel and a bottom surface, where a single bottom panel serves as the bottom surface for both of the first and second compartments. The container further includes a plurality of side panels extending upwardly from the bottom panel and a plurality of side panels extending downwardly from the top panels. Both of the first and second compartments are formed from a unitary, single sheet of microwave permeable paperboard material, wherein the first compartment includes a layer of microwave shielding material laminated to the portion of the sheet of microwave permeable paperboard material which forms a majority of the enclosing surfaces of the first microwave shielded compartment.

A carton and blank for forming such carton are disclosed including a top wall, a bottom wall and a plurality of sidewalls extended upwardly from the bottom wall to the top wall. An access opening is preferably formed in the top wall, but may be formed in any one of the sidewalls and is defined by at least one line of weakness with the line of weakness including at least one through cut line and a plurality of perforated lines extending in a linear or curvilinear direction. The perforated lines formed adjacent each end of the through cut line extend in substantially the same direction as the through cut. The access opening preferably includes two mutually opposing lines of weakness which extend from mutually opposing void regions formed in the top panel of the carton with the lines of weakness including a plurality of through cut lines and a plurality of perforated line sections with each of the perforated lines section including at least two perforated lines with the perforated lines being positioned collinear with the through cut lines.

A folding carton is provided with a three-dimensional scene collapsed upon the outer face of one sidewall of the carton. The scene may be folded out, with all elements popping into position simultaneously, to provide a game or other diversion after the primary use of the carton is completed. An auxiliary sidewall is provided with punch out figures or tokens for use in conjunction with the three-dimensional scene.

Pop-out carton

A folded paperboard carton, which, after having been used for its original purpose such as packaging a foodstuff, may be separated into several components and the components then assembled to form a holder or caddy for pencils, crayons and the like. The blank from which the carton is formed is provided with suitable cut and perforated lines such that separation of the components of the caddy may be readily effected and the components of the caddy may be assembled without requiring any glue or separate fastener element.

Dual purpose carton

A food service container is provided comprising a rimmed receptacle and a lockable paperboard lid. The lid consists of a cover panel with a pair of extension tabs formed at opposed edges of the cover panel, and a locking assembly depending from each extension tab. Each locking assembly comprises an outer wall panel foldably connected to the extension tab and depending downwardly therefrom, means in each outer wall panel defining a semi-detachable retaining tongue, a bottom wall panel foldably connected to the outer wall panel and extending inwardly therefrom, an inner wall panel foldably connected to the inner wall panel and secured in underlying relation to each extension tab, and an engagement slot formed at the junction of inner wall panel and the glue flap. The lid is locked to the receptacle by engaging the rim of the receptacle in the two slots, and detaching the retaining tongues from the outer wall panels to engage the portions of the rim protruding through the slots so that the retaining tongues exert outward and upward biases on the rim.

A tray for shipping and displaying dressed poultry for sale is disclosed. The rear end wall of the tray forms an acute angle with the tray bottom and contains an aperture through which the ends of the legs of the poultry are inserted so as to prevent hocking (spreading of the legs). Preferably, a sunburst die pattern is cut around the aperture. The sunburst fingers prevent the legs from pulling away from the rear walls and lock the fowl in place. Also, preferably, a tail shield folds down from the top of the rear wall to cover the ends of the legs extending through the aperture. This prevents the legs from puncturing the plastic overwrap on the tray.

Poultry tray

A paperboard box having a tear-open pour spout which is easily constructed from a simple integral blank. The pour spout is sift-proof and readily opened by means of a tongue, unattached to the box. The pour spout and related tear open portion are constructed to be non-interfering with the pouring of the box contents and to be readily reclosed and reopened.

A dispenser carton capable of being formed from a single-piece paperboard blank is disclosed. The blank is suitable for erection into a rigid, rectangular container having a measuring chamber therein which is provided with a 'locked-in', slide-valve discharge opening at the dispensing end of the chamber which is reclosable.

Dispensing carton

A carton fabricated from a unitary blank, which is separable into first and second closable units, is provided. The carton comprises first and second main walls, side walls and end closures which define a hollow carton. Means are provided for separating the hollow carton into first and second closable units, each of the units, initially upon separation, having an open end facing the other of the closable units. Means are also provided for closing the open end of each unit when the carton is separated. These closing means comprise a pair of elongated, oppositely disposed closure members and a pair of securing means. Each closure member, which is captured from a main wall of the other of the closable units, comprises a base portion, a shaft portion, and a terminal tongue portion. The base portion of each closure member is non-severably connected to the unit it closes. Each of the securing means in the main wall is positioned to removably secure a tongue portion of one closure member upon closing the open end of each closable unit following separation of the carton.
