A personalized digital microscope system for use in microsurgery includes a camera system configured to produce a stereo pair of images captured in real-time; an image processing system communicatively coupled to the camera system and configured to extract the stereo pair of images synchronized in time with each other and to combine the stereo pair of images with encoded images of differences between the stereo pair of images; and a video processing system communicatively coupled to the image processing system and configured to create a stream from the encoded images by processing the encoded images based on personalization for the user, wherein the personalization is determined based on a test procedure performed by the user.

Personalized hand-eye coordinated digital stereo microscopic systems and methods

Systems and methods of microsuture training include receiving an image or video of a suture; extracting features of the suture from the image or video; scoring the suture based on the extracted features of the suture and based on a rating and complexity of the suture to determine a quality of the suture in an objective manner. A suture training system includes a suture training apparatus configurable with a plurality of orientations of simulated or actual tissue to simulate natural anatomical orientations encountered in actual surgery, wherein the plurality of simulated tissue orientations are objective based on fiducial markings on the suture training apparatus; and an image analysis system configured to receive an image or video of a suture performed on the suture training apparatus; extract features of the suture from the image or video; score the suture.

Apparatus, method and system for microsurgical suture training

Surgical stereo vision systems and methods for microsurgery are described that enable hand-eye collocation, high resolution, and a large field of view. A digital stereo microscope apparatus, an operating system with a digital stereo microscope, and a method are described using a display unit located over an area of interest such that a human operator places hands, tools, or a combination thereof in the area of interest and views a magnified and augmented live stereo view of the area interest with eyes of the human operator substantially collocated with the hands of the human operator.

Surgical stereo vision systems and methods for microsurgery

There is provided an imaging system comprising image capture apparatus and display apparatus. The image capture apparatus is for capturing an image of an operator work site, the image including depth information. The display apparatus is in communication with the image capture apparatus, and comprises at least one display screen. The display apparatus is arranged to receive the image captured by the image capture apparatus, including the depth information, and display to the operator the image captured by the image capture apparatus, including the depth information, on the display screen. The display screen is located between the operator's eyes and the position of the work site. There is also provided a method for capturing and displaying an image of an operator work site.

Imaging system and method

An imaging system comprising an image capture apparatus, arranged to capture a stereoscopic image of an operator work site, in communication with a display system; the display system arranged to receive and display said stereoscopic image on a display screen to said operator; wherein said display system is arranged such that the display screen is placed intermediate the operator's eyes and the work site.
