A dressing for the treatment of incisional wounds includes an upper cover, a patient interface layer, and an absorbent material. The upper cover is configured to substantially cover the incisional wound. The upper cover includes a drape and a plurality of spines coupled to the drape. The drape includes a first side and a second, wound-facing side. The patient interface layer is coupled to the second side of the drape and includes a plurality of openings that are configured to receive fluid from the incisional wound. The absorbent material is disposed between the second side of the drape and the patient interface layer.

Advanced wound dressing for incisional wounds that provides apposition forces as a result of fluid absorption

A wound debridement system includes a wound dressing having an active layer () and a wound interface layer (). The active layer is formed from one or more pneumatic members (). The pneumatic members are arranged about a film layer (), by which the pneumatic members are attached to the wound interface layer. A control unit () controls a drive unit () to intermittently apply pressure to the pneumatic members of the active layer. The pressure applied by the drive unit causes the pneumatic members to expand and contract. This movement of the pneumatic members is transferred to the wound interface layer, causing the wound interface layer to move relative to a tissue site to which the wound dressing is applied. The wound interface layer may be formed having an abrasive wound-facing surface, such that the movement of the wound interface layer causes a mechanical disruption and debridement of debris at the tissue site.

Method and system for providing active tissue site debridement

New and useful systems, apparatuses, and methods for providing negative-pressure therapy with instillation of topical treatment solutions are described. An apparatus may comprise an exudate container, a solution source, and a pneumatically-actuated instillation regulator. The instillation regulator may be coupled to the exudate container and to the solution source, and negative pressure from a negative-pressure source can actuate the instillation regulator. In some embodiments, a negative-pressure source may be configured for a negative-pressure interval and a venting interval, and the instillation regulator can be configured to draw instillation solution from the solution source during a negative-pressure interval and to instill the solution to a dressing during a venting interval.

Negative-pressure therapy with pneumatically-actuated instillation

A wound dressing includes a patient interface layer, a wicking layer, an absorbent layer, and a cover layer. The patient interface layer is configured to engage a wound bed and has a first side and a second side, the second side configured to face the wound bed. The wicking layer, absorbent layer, and cover layer all also have a first side and a second side. A perimeter of the first side of the wicking layer is adhered to the second side of the cover layer, forming an adhesive border surrounding the wicking layer and the absorbent layer, and the wicking layer is configured to peripherally wick perspiration from underneath the adhesive border towards the center of the wicking layer and upwards towards the absorbent layer.

A wound debridement system includes a wound dressing having an active layer and a wound interface layer. The active layer is formed from one or more drive elements arranged about a film layer, by which the drive elements are attached to the wound interface layer. Activation of the drive elements is configured to cause the movement of the wound interface layer relative to a tissue site to which the wound dressing is applied. The drive elements may include one or more drive members formed of a material having a shape memory effect configured to transition the drive members between expanded and collapsed configurations and/or one or more motors configured to translate or oscillate the active layer. The wound interface layer may be formed having an abrasive wound-facing surface, such that the movement of the wound interface layer causes a mechanical disruption and debridement of debris at the tissue site.

In some examples, a dressing filler for treating a tissue site may include a plurality of filler elements and a tissue interface layer. Each of the filler elements may include a first surface and a second surface opposite the first surface and separated from the first surface by a thickness. The tissue interface layer may include a first side configured to be positioned facing the tissue site and a second side positioned opposite the first side. The first surface of each of the filler elements may be coupled to the second side of the tissue interface layer. Also provided are other apparatuses, dressings, systems, and methods suitable for treating a tissue site.

Highly conformable wound dressing

A system for providing negative-pressure therapy to breast tissue is disclosed. In some embodiments, the system may include a dressing assembly shaped for placement on a breast, an absorbent pouch, and a negative-pressure source. The system may further include an additional dressing assembly for placement on a second breast. Various shapes and configurations of the breast dressing assemblies may be included in the system.

Absorbent negative-pressure dressing system for use with post-surgical breast wounds

In one example embodiment, an apparatus may include a panel with integrated fluid channels, wherein the panel and the fluid channel consist only of surfaces that can be manufactured with a straight-pull mold. A port may also be integrated into the panel to facilitate coupling the fluid channel to pneumatic components in an assembly. A seal may be secured to the panel over the fluid channel to form an integrated fluid conductor. The seal is preferably an adhesive label that can also be used for product labeling. Such an apparatus may be used in a control unit of a therapy system, employing several integrated fluid conductors. A method of manufacturing may include molding a panel, wherein the mold forms a channel integral to the panel. The panel and the channel preferably consist of surfaces that can be molded with a straight-pull mold.

A treatment system for applying negative pressure therapy and fluid instillation treatment to a tissue site, particularly an abdominal tissue site, is disclosed. In some embodiments, the treatment system may include a dressing member, a plurality of fluid removal pathways, a fluid instillation matrix, a drape, a negative-pressure source, and a fluid instillation source. Instillation fluid may be delivered from the fluid instillation source to the tissue site through the fluid instillation matrix, and negative pressure may be communicated and fluid withdrawn from the tissue site through the plurality of fluid removal pathways.

System and method utilizing vacuum for promoting the healing of sprains

One implementation of the present disclosure is a method for dynamically controlling an alarm of a negative pressure wound therapy (NPWT) device, according to some embodiments. In some embodiments, the method includes initiating NPWT, comparing an initial pump duty to a threshold value to determine a dressing application quality, monitoring a leakage rate of the NPWT, setting a leak threshold value based on the dressing application quality, determining leakage event occurrences in response to the leakage rate exceeding the leak threshold value at multiple times, adjusting the leak threshold value based on at least one of a number of the leakage events over the time period, a time duration between sequentially occurring leakage events of the leakage events, and the dressing application quality, and causing a user interface device to display a leak alert in response to the leakage rate exceeding the adjusted leak threshold value.

A system for providing instillation fluid to a deep abdominal wound includes an instillation module and a connection structure. The instillation module defines a first surface and a second, abdominal contents-facing surface. The instillation module includes a distribution hub configured to receive instillation fluid from an instillation fluid source. The connection structure includes a first surface, a second, abdominal contents-facing surface; and a flow path extending between the first surface and the second surface. Systems and methods for managing pneumatic pathways in integrated multilayer wound dressings

A negative pressure wound therapy (NPWT) device includes a canister, a pump, a filter, and a control unit. The canister is configured to collect wound exudate from a wound site. The pump is fluidly coupled to the canister and configured to draw a vacuum within the canister by pumping air out of the canister. The filter is positioned between the canister and the pump such that the air pumped out of the canister passes through the filter in a first direction. The control unit is configured to operate the pump and to purge the filter by causing airflow through the filter in a second direction, opposite the first direction.

In one example embodiment, a vibration apparatus can augment and enhance negative-pressure therapy systems. The apparatus can be attached to an external surface of a dressing, fluid conductor, or other components. The apparatus can generate low-amplitude vibrations, which can be transmitted through the components. Kinetic energy of the oscillations can agitate fluid in the components, which can lower the viscosity of the fluid and reduce the frequency of blockages in fluid conductors. Vibrations may also agitate a tissue site, which can encourage blood flow and granulation.
