A battery separator composed of a microporous sheet product having first and second major surfaces and a thickness of less than about 50 mils, formed from a uniform mixture of a polysulfone polymer and a filler or polysulfone polymer and structure enhancing agent, said sheet product having a fibrous sheet embedded within said mixture and between the first and second major surfaces. The porosity of the sheet product is at least about 60 volume percent composed of pores such that the average pore diameter increases from each major surface toward the interior of the sheet product's thickness.

Battery separator

A wettable battery separator for alkaline batteries is formed of a microporous plastic sheet selected from porous films, fabrics and papers. The separator is impregnated with a resin which has one or more carboxyl groups which have been neutralized by a base so as to form a salt. The resin is present in an amount from about 0.0001 to 3% by weight of the separator. Alkali resistant fillers may also be included.

Wettable battery separator for alkaline batteries

A battery separator composed of a microporous sheet product having first and second major surfaces and a thickness of less than about 50 mils, formed from a uniform mixture of a polymer and a filler or a polymer and a structure enhancing agent and having a porous sheet embedded between the first and second major surface. The porosity of the sheet product is at least about 50 volume percent having a pore distribution such that the nominal pore diameter increases from each major surface towards the interior central portion of the sheet product's thickness.

A battery separator for nickel/metal hydride batteries is formed of a synthetic pulp, one or more nonwater swellable fibers and at least one water swellable polyvinyl alcohol fiber. The separator is impregnated with an acrylic resin binder. Alkali resistant fillers may also be included.

Battery separator for nickel/metal hydride batteries

A battery separator for use in deep cycle traction batteries, such as golf cart batteries. The separator is formed of a microporous, mainly polymeric layer, preferably in the form of a synthetic paper; a glass mat layer adjacent one surface of the microporous layer; and a coating on one or both sides of the mircoporous layer/glass mat combination. The coating is preferably formed of natural rubber which positively affects top-of-charge behavior and reduces the possibility of antimony poisoning, thus providing for longer and improved battery performance and life.

Deep cycle battery separators

A battery separator in the form of a microporous membrane composed of a substantially uniform composition of a polymer mixture of ultra high molecular weight polyolefin, polyethylene terpolymer and polyvinyl chloride, in combination with at least one plasticizer for the polymer mixture and an inert filler.
