A well screen assembly residing in a well bore has a base pipe and a filtration screen carried on the base pipe. The screen is radially extended with force from fluid while maintaining the base pipe radially unextended.

A method and apparatus including a screen assembly that includes a screen having a plurality of openings and a sacrificial shroud disposed over a portion of the openings and disposed to erode under flow of formation fluid through the screen. The shroud is configured to erode more quickly than the screen over which it is disposed, thereby altering the erosion zone of the screen over time and prolonging the life of the screen.

A method of installing a sealing ring onto a wire wrap screen comprising: providing the sealing ring, wherein the sealing ring has an initial inner diameter greater than the outer diameter of an end of the wire wrap screen; reducing the inner diameter of the sealing ring, wherein the reduced inner diameter of the sealing ring is less than the outer diameter of the end of the wire wrap screen; heating the sealing ring; positioning the heated sealing ring over the end of the wire wrap screen; and allowing the sealing ring to decrease in temperature. Another method comprises positioning at least two sealing rings adjacent to a cut-out section of the wire wrap screen.

An assembly for restricting fluid flow into a completion string of a well and restricting fluids based on one or more fluid characteristics is presented. The assembly includes an adjustable inflow control device. The adjustable inflow control device is for restricting flow of production fluids into the completion string. The assembly also includes a first autonomous inflow control device fluidly coupled to the inflow control device for restricting fluids based on one or more fluid characteristics. Others systems and methods are presented.

Adjustable flow control assemblies, systems, and methods

A screen assembly can include a tracer retaining mechanism for retaining a tracer in an annular area defined between a screen portion and a base pipe. The tracer retaining mechanism can be coupled to the screen portion, the base pipe, or the tracer. The tracer retaining mechanism can allow fluid flow in and out of the annular area.

Downhole screen tracer retention

An inflow control assembly can be adjusted subsequent to manufacture and prior to being run downhole in a wellbore. The inflow control assembly can include an outer body and a chamber internal to the outer body. The chamber can define a flow path for fluid flow through the inflow control assembly when the inflow control assembly is in a wellbore traversing a subterranean formation. The flow path is injectable with a pre-determined volume of material from a source external to the outer body for reducing fluid flow through the flow path.

Injectable inflow control assemblies

A flow control assembly for regulating fluid flow in a wellbore is disclosed. A remote-open ICD is opened in response to swelling of a swellable actuator. The swellable actuator can move a flow regulator radially, circumferentially, etc., such that flow is allowed through the regulator. Alternately, the swellable actuator can move one or more valve members to an open position thereby allowing fluid to flow across the valve and to the flow regulator. The swellable actuator can be swelled in response to introduction of chemicals or heat. A guide mechanism can be used to control swelling of the actuator or movement of the regulator device or valve member.

A well system has a fluid flow path for the inflow of production fluid. An inflow control device is disposed within the fluid flow path. The inflow control device has at least first and second fluid passageways. A first plug is disposed within the first fluid passageway and is operable to restrict fluid flow therethrough. The first plug is operably removable from the first fluid passageway responsive to a first stimulus. A second plug is disposed within the second fluid passageway and is operable to restrict fluid flow therethrough. The second plug is operably removable from the second fluid passageway responsive to a second stimulus, wherein the first stimulus is different from the second stimulus.

A sand control screen assembly selectively positionable within a wellbore. The sand control screen assembly comprises a pipe having an internal flow path, an external fluid collection subassembly in fluid communication with the internal flow path, a filter medium disposed in a fluid path between the exterior of the sand control screen assembly and the internal flow path, a biasing mechanism, configured to bias the fluid collection subassembly towards a wall of the wellbore, disposed between the fluid collection subassembly and the pipe, and a retaining mechanism configured to release the biasing mechanism in response to a trigger.
