Certain embodiments involve providing advertisements during navigation on an electronic device. For example, when the device is left idle for a period of time because the user of the device has not given a navigation command, the mobile device may present an advertisement. The advertisement may be displayed, for example, until the user returns and gives an additional navigation or other command, ending the idle period.

Providing advertisements in response to idle time during navigation on an electronic device

An approach is provided for determining location offset information. A correction manager determines to present, at a device, a location-based display including one or more representations of one or more location-based features. Next, the correction manager receives an input for specifying offset information for at least one of the one or more representations with respect to the location-based display. Then, the correction manager determines to present the one or more representations in the location-based display based, at least in part, on the offset information.

Method and apparatus for determining location offset information

Certain embodiments involve providing advertisements in response to navigation on an electronic device. On a mobile or other electronic device navigation may be controlled by moving a focus indicator amongst a group of displayed items. Certain embodiments provide an advertisement break between navigation items. When a user crosses the advertisement break by navigating the focus indicator from an item on one side of the advertisement break to an item on the other side, an advertisement is presented to the user.

Providing advertisements in response to navigation on an electronic device

Embodiments of the present invention are directed toward enabling a user to quickly interact with a graphical user interface (GUI) displayed by the HMD. Utilizing techniques provided herein, a hand or other object can be used to select visual elements displayed by the HMD. The visual elements can be located within larger active regions, allowing the user to more easily select a visual element by selecting the active region in which the visual element is disposed.

User interface interaction for transparent head-mounted displays

Methods, systems, computer-readable media, and apparatuses for providing intuitive, functional, and convenient ways of enabling a user of a head-mounted display unit or another augmented reality enabled device to interact with various user interfaces and other features provided by such a unit or device are presented. In some embodiments, a computing device, such as a head-mounted display unit, may receive camera input of a scene. Subsequently, the computing device may identify at least one reference object in the scene, for example, based on detecting one or more rectangles in the received camera input. The computing device then may receive input that defines a surface segment relative to the at least one reference object. Thereafter, the computing device may render the surface segment.

Augmented reality surface segmentation

Embodiments of the present invention are directed toward allowing a see-through HMD to intelligently react to sensor and other input to adjust how visual elements showing video are displayed. The HMD can react to different sensor input in different ways, enabling the HMD to provide graduated responses based on the degree and type of sensor input received. These responses may further be based on a determination of the context of the user to help ensure an intelligent, appropriate response.

Reactive user interface for head-mounted display

A method to display time-variant information that includes displaying, for example, on a computer-generated user interface, a common baseline value indication (or representation) for multiple data items. The common baseline value indication represents respective baseline values for each of the multiple data items (e.g., stocks) at a first instance in time. The method includes displaying deviation indicators (or representations), relative to the common baseline value indication, for each of the multiple data items. The multiple deviation indicators represent respective deviation values, relative to respective base values, for each of the multiple data items at a second time instance. Each of the deviation indicators may further visually identify a respective deviation value as being positive or negative, relative to a related base value.

Visualization of time-variant data

Systems and methods for using design and/or constraint information in selecting, editing, creating, and managing content for multiple operating environments. For example, an image editor feature of a content management system can receive constraints and/or design requirements identifying specific image sizes that are needed for offering a piece of content on one or more operating environments. This information may be used to guide or restrict a user to select appropriate image portions. A selection marquee, sized based on the constraint information, may be positioned on a displayed image to select an image portion to use for that particular image requirement. The marquee size enforces the image constraint. Design and constraint information may also be used to inform selection, editing, and creation of other constraints and other types of assets, including, but not limited to, text and video assets.
