Methods for manufacturing a display device and display devices are described. A display substrate having a display surface, wherein the display surface has a first surface curvature, and a cover having a cover surface, wherein the cover surface has a second surface curvature different from the first surface curvature, are provided. A spacer is provided. The spacer has a first spacer surface having a first spacer surface curvature being adapted to the first surface curvature and a second spacer surface having a second spacer surface curvature being adapted to the second surface curvature. The spacer is attached to the cover so that the second spacer surface faces the cover surface. The spacer is attached to the display substrate so that the first spacer surface faces the display surface.

Method for manufacturing a display device and display device

Dynamically adjustable display systems for adjusting the position of a flexible display in response to ambient light. The display system includes a flexible display that is capable of reversibly bending along one or more bending axes. The display system further includes an adjustable support on which the flexible display is mounted, the adjustable support being able to selectively bend the flexible display. The display system includes photodetectors for detecting ambient light. The photodetectors may be positioned about a perimeter of the flexible display. A control unit in communication with the adjustable support and the plurality of photodetectors may cause the adjustable support to bend the flexible display in response to ambient light detected at the plurality of photodetectors.

A display assembly for showing perceived depth includes a display panel for displaying images and video. A lens extends parallel to and in a spaced relationship with the display panel to define a distal viewing area. An optically clear adhesive is partially disposed between the display panel and the lens to define a plurality of proximal viewing areas. The lens has a varying lens thickness for altering the presentation of the images and video displayed on the display panel in the proximal viewing areas relative to the presentation of the images and video displayed on the display panel in the distal viewing area to create a three dimensional appearance of the images and video. A controller is configured to tailor the images and video presented in the distal viewing area relative to the images and video in the proximal viewing areas to enhance the three dimensional appearance.

Display assembly

A display assembly for showing perceived depth is provided. The display includes a display panel for displaying images and video. A lens extends parallel to and in a spaced relationship with the display panel to define a distal viewing area. An optically clear adhesive is partially disposed between the display panel and the lens to define a plurality of proximal viewing areas. A method, system, and display assembly is disclosed herein. The aspects disclosed herein include the providing of at least two lenses covering a respective display, with the two lenses bonded together with an optical clear adhesive. The optical clear adhesive may be shaped in a predetermined manner, such as a curve. Also included herein are systems for driving electronic signals to the respective displays. The signals may undergo processing in order to provide a seamless look via the display assembly.

Systems, methods, and devices for capturing gesture-based inputs are disclosed herein. The concept employs infrared light emitting diodes (LEDs), infrared (IR) sensor, and processing of the information obtained by the interplay of the two. The processed information may be effectively translated to various gesture-based control systems, such as those employed to interact with electronic systems and displays.

A system for adjusting a heads-up display (HUD) is disclosed herein. The system includes a forward looking light sensor receiver to logarithmically receive a first light information from a forward looking light sensor; and an adjuster to adjust a luminance of the HUD based on the first light information. A method or process may be employed in a similar fashion. The adjuster may be implemented by employing a lookup table, or by employing analog values to perform a transformation relied upon for the adjustment.

A system and method for implementing a hidden touch surface are provided. The system includes a touch detector to detect a touch applied to a finishing layer associated with the hidden touch surface; a touch sensor to sense an attribute associated with the touch; and a processor to associate the attribute with a predetermined command, wherein the finishing layer hides the hidden touch surface.

A system for adjusting an electronic display is provided herein. The system includes a forward looking light sensor receiver to logarithmically receive a first light information from a forward looking light sensor; an ambient light sensor receiver to logarithmically receive a second light information from an ambient light sensor; and an adjuster to adjust a luminance of the electronic display based on a combination of the first light information and the second light information.

A rotary knob assembly and methods for forming and controlling friction effecting features of the knob assembly are disclosed. The knob assembly includes a mounting structure and a knob. The knob is rotatably coupled to a bezel of the mounting structure. The knob includes a stabilizer, a guide member, and a retainer having a patterned surface. At least a portion of the stabilizer is disposed between the bezel and the retainer to maintain an axial position and a radial position of the knob. A detent formed on the guide member cooperates with a patterned surface of the retainer to provide a haptic feedback to a user.
