The invention is directed towards a furnace comprising a panel and filter assembly. At least two z-shaped brackets and two flanges are used to retain a filter directly behind the front panel of the furnace. This allows for easy removal and installation of filters in the furnace. It further allows for the use of commercially available disposable filters.

The invention is directed towards a front panel assembly for receiving air to be conditioned by a manufactured home furnace. The front panel assembly comprises molded panels allowing for a greater amount of open louver area, improved appearance, and improved sound-deadening qualities. The molded panels can be held together by rails, which can also be used to hold a filter in place behind the molded panels.

An entry grid includes a plurality of spaced, side-by-side, grid sections each having a tread rail and a depending support leg with sections interlocked by a locking bar extending transversely through respective locking holes in the support legs. The support legs include locking teeth engaged by complementally configured element teeth of corresponding locking elements extending radially from the locking bar shaft.

A preferred foot traffic grid has a plurality of grid sections including an initial grid section, a terminating grid section, and a plurality of intermediate grid sections therebetween. Adjacent grid sections are coupled using a pair of spaced connectors received in corresponding channels in the adjacent connector. The channels and connectors are positioned on opposed sides of a support leg.
