An integrated system for automatic vehicle collision avoidance and warning for vehicles operating on any highway or road system globally. The system may be used to not only illuminate the brake lights on the following vehicle but also to begin the application of braking pressure as a result of analysis of the speed of the vehicle. The system includes an RFID transponder (either active or passive) located in the rear and front of the vehicle with discrete recognition capability as to vehicle proximity and resulting action to be taken as a result of driver action. On the vehicle either the brake lights will be illuminated ahead of any actual driver action; an initial application of brake pressure as a result of receiving a signal from the vehicle in front, the pressure which is determined by analysis of the current speed of the vehicle or the system will provide additional warning through brake light illumination to the following vehicle with similar equipment and cruise control will be disengaged. The system can be retrofitted into existing vehicles to provide, at a minimum, brake light illumination indicating an action being taken somewhere ahead of your vehicle. The system thereby warns and prevents serious rear-end collisions at highway speeds especially where vehicle size mismatch contributes to the inability of the following driver to see activity in front of the car in front of him.

Automatic vehicle collision avoidance and warning system

A method, computer program product and apparatus for locating aircraft with respect to airport runways and environs, generating a graphical display of the aircraft position, heading and ground speed information relative to the aircraft runways and environs, and annunciating situational awareness advisories as a function of aircraft information relative to the airport runways and environs.

A Ground Runway Awareness and Advisory System (GRAAS) that provides supplemental position information and airport situational awareness alerts and advisories to pedestrians and vehicle operators during surface operations by providing timely aural, textual, graphic or pictographic alerts and advisory messages to pedestrians and vehicle operators in a significant number of different scenarios that have led to past runway and taxiway incursion occurrences. These messages are optionally supplemented by a situational awareness video display wherein one or more of the user's position, heading and ground speed are superimposed on a graphic display of airport features of interest. The GRAAS thereby satisfies one clear requirement in reducing VPDs: that the pedestrians or vehicle operators have a clear understanding of the airport layout, including designations of runways and taxiways, and their position relative to the airport layout and features, including aircraft, other ground vehicle traffic and pedestrians where position information is available.

Ground runway awareness and advisory system

An integrated system for tidal/wave flow electrical power generation. This bi-directional system utilizes the wave flow on the shores and the flow of various rivers and estuaries to generate electrical power through a venturi box which has mounted in it and comprises of the following components: a vane assembly with variable pitch vanes made from high impact blade material; a drive shaft assembly that connects the vane drive unit with the generator; a flow detection vane that determines velocity and direction thereby providing input to the flow detection controller and variable pitch computer and controller; a solid state voltage regulator; a mechanical fly wheel assist for the drive assembly during transition between flow direction; a grid cycle input device to match the power being generated with the grid. This system is capable of being coupled together both physically and electrically. The generator unit assembly is a field replaceable unit to ease installation and maintenance. The venturi box design mitigates slit and sand build-up. The vane radial design limits the damage by flotsam and provides a means of reducing fish damage as well.

Tidal/wave flow electrical power generation system

A method and system for locating aircraft with respect to airport runways selecting as a function of aircraft state parameters one of a plurality of candidate runways that the aircraft on which it is installed is most likely to encounter, whether taxiing, preparing for take-off, or approaching to land.

A totally integrated system for automatic formation flight control of multiple vehicles not limited to aircraft, helicopters, or space platforms. For instance, the system may be used to control any number of aircraft in a pre-determined flight formation and provide 'positive' identification, control and discrete communications between any number of vehicles. Thus the invention prevents mid-air collisions between vehicles in formation flight. The system generally includes a processor located on the vehicles to enable communications, unique position computations and control messaging between any number of aircraft in formation flight, a communications transceiver located on the vehicle that provides discrete communication links to any number of aircraft in formation flight an autopilot and a display. The processor may take into consideration velocity, direction, winds aloft, wing tip clearance of any number of vehicles. On aircraft, the system will display the current formation and vehicles relative position under control by this invention. The system may be overridden in flight.

Automatic formation flight control system (AFFCS)&#x2014;a system for automatic formation flight control of vehicles not limited to aircraft, helicopters, or space platforms

A system for alerting the occupant of a vehicle that the vehicle is in or approaching a zone of awareness. For instance, the system may be used to alert the pilot or flight crew of an aircraft that the aircraft is on or approaching a runway, and may identify the specific runway. Thus, the invention also provides a method of reducing unintentional incursions of taxiing aircraft onto runways. The system generally includes a storage device or memory, a positioning system such as a GPS that typically repeatedly determines the location of the vehicle, an alerting device such as an alarm or display, and a processor, all of which are typically located on the vehicle. The processor typically compares the location of the vehicle with stored location information for various zones of awareness and initiates an alert when appropriate. The processor may take into consideration the velocity and direction of travel of the vehicle. Zones of awareness may be defined by coordinates, such as the end points of line segments. Audible alarms may include a voice warning, and may be able to be silenced until the vehicle leaves the zone of awareness. On aircraft, the system may reference the centerline of the runway, for example, alerting when the aircraft is within 150 feet of the centerline. The system may be disabled when the aircraft is in flight.
