An exit device employs a pair of projectable latches which are retractable by depressing a push pad. A latch actuator is mounted between the latches and is actuatable to retract the latches. In one embodiment, the actuator comprises a pair of solenoids controlled from a remote location. In another embodiment, the actuator comprises a motor which is activatable from a remote location for unlatching the door. In addition an exterior operator is mountable and connectable to the latch actuator to provide controlled access from the exterior of the door.

An electrically controlled door lock device with a lockset with an inside handle, an outside handle, a spring loaded continuous spindle, biased to maintained a lockset's latch in a projected position and connecting the lockset and the outside handle, a first half and a second half of a clutch connecting the continuous spindle and the inside handle with a spring maintaining the second half of the clutch in predetermined position relative to the first half of the clutch. There is also a mechanical means blocking the first half of the clutch from rotation and electromechanical means controlling the blocking means, the mechanical means built into the second half of the clutch, allowing the second half of the clutch a predetermined degree of free rotation before it engages with the first half of the clutch, the mechanical means built into second half of the clutch, mechanically inhibiting the blocking means.

An exit bar for securing a door has a housing adapted for mounting to a door. A push pad for receiving a push force is mounted to the housing. A latch extends from the housing to releasably latch the door to which the exit bar is mounted. A link system links the push pad to the latch so that a push force exerted on the push pad releases the latch. An electromagnetic lock disposed in the housing locks the link system to prevent releasing of the latch. The electromagnetic lock employs an electromagnet and a movable armature to lock the link system. The exit bar further delays unlocking the link system for a preestablished delay time after the push pad has been pushed.

The present invention provides a cable driving wrench assembly for thrusting and rotating a multi-strand cable mine rock anchor. The wrench assembly includes a wrench body having an open interior and a plurality of apertures in the wrench body extending into the open interior. Each aperture is adapted to receive an individual strand of the multi-strand cable when the individual strand has been separated from the remaining strands of the cable at least at one end of the cable. The open interior of the wrench body is adapted to receive one end of the cable through the plurality of apertures. A mechanism for thrusting and rotating the wrench body is attached thereto. The present invention additionally includes a cable opening tool for opening the strands of a multi-strand cable. The cable opening tool includes a rotatable tool body and a socket formed in the tool body. The socket is engageable with one end of the multi-strand cable to separate the individual strands from each other at one end of the cable upon rotation of the tool body.

Underground support system and method of support

A cable bolt mine roof crib for support and stabilization of roof rocks employing a series of cable bolts and/or cable members through a cribbing frame for actively supporting the roof and area surrounding an underground opening. The support imposes a restraint on geologic movement of the roof by the placement of rock anchors on the ends of cables at depth through the rock mass. The anchor portions of the cable bolts are placed beyond the zone of failure that would normally take place around an underground opening. The roof crib provides a bearing area for the roof rock which limits deformation and offers support by suspension to maintain interlock of rock fragments of the roof of the underground opening. The strength and length of cable bolts can be adjusted to fit initial tectonic load conditions and subsequent loads placed upon the opening by adjacent mining. The roof rocks above the crib may be prestressed by tensioning of the individual cable members, by the placement of pump packs or timber lagging between the crib frame and the roof rocks which may be pressurized to preload the entire structure.

A multiple cable rock anchor comprising an assembly of a plurality of individual elongated cables having an attachment for joining a first end of each cable in association for common movement, or wrapped to loosely hold them together without restricting relative sliding movement in bending. The assembly of multiple cable rock anchor being manipulated by bending for installation in a borehole formed in a geologic structure where there is a drift dimension less than the desired length dimension of the elongated cables, thereby forcing the cables to be bent upon being inserted in the borehole. Further, the assembly of cables have different strengths, dimensions and lengths.

A yieldable grout compactor for a cable roof support fixture adapted to be insertable in a uniform diameter borehole or in a stepped borehole in which the grout cartridge and compactor are insertable so as to have the cable perform the piercing and mixing function with respect to the grout material while the compactor is slidable on the cable caused by a sufficient degree of force to permit the grout to surround and anchor the cable. Compactor sleeves are sized with respect to the axial cable length and the internal and external diameters are sized to yieldably permit fixture installation and grout securement of the cable in a manner to obtain a secure anchor for the cable in the back of the borehole.

An exit door security system which employs an electromagnet and armature to lock an exit door comprises an electromagnetic housing and a frame assembly. The housing is pivotally mounted to the frame assembly. An attempt to exit the door causes the housing to pivot to thereby actuate a switch. The lock is automatically released after a pre-established time delay. An alarm at the door may also be actuated by the switch. The electronic circuitry is configured to allow for immediate authorized egress and to implement an immediate safety release of the lock. The lock may be operated in either a normally locked or normally unlocked mode.

Dynamic rock stabilization apparatus in the form of an anchor fixture for use with a roof plate in which the fixture has an anchor rod formed with a surface configuration extending from a lead-in end to the opposite headed end for at least a part of the length of the rod, and a hollow body providing a wall of formable and compressible material having a length less than the depth of a bore hole in the rock structure into which it is to be placed between the rod and the surface of the bore hole, the body engaging the surface configuration of the rod to effect a locking engagement with the rod such that when assembled in a bore hole the body wall has a thickness sufficient to be compressed between the rod surface configuration which has a diameter less than the bore hole and the bore hole surface, and to apply dynamic forces through the rock as a result of the compressibility of the body. The invention includes a method of effecting dynamic rock stabilization by placing a body of formable material in a bore hole and inserting an anchor rod into the body so it engages the body and initiates a cooperative reaction between the bore hole and the rod to stabilize the rock structure.

A manual power assist control employs a magnetic encoder which is mounted to a shaft of the door operator. The encoder generates pulse trains which are indicative of an attempt to open the door in a given direction. The pulses are processed to generate a signal for opening the doors in the event a manual attempt to open the doors is detected.

A dual stage dynamic rock stabilizing fixture for insertion in a bore hole in a geologic structure, the fixture combining a dynamic compressible plastic formable material and an activatable bonding material in various cooperating arrangements which upon insertion of an anchor rod will perform an initial stabilization of the rock structure through the compression of the formable material by the anchor rod in advance of a subsequent stabilization effect upon setting up of the activatable bonding material through mixing action of a suitable surface configuration on the anchor rod. The fixtures hereof are designed to carry out the steps of a method of inserting the combined formable material and the bonding material into a bore hole, and using an anchor rod to establish a rapid first stage of rock stabilization through the formable material which creates a dynamic support and a second stage of rock stabilization from the activatable bonding material which creates a high modulus stiff anchor.
