A coated abrasive product includes green, unfired abrasive aggregates having a generally spheroidal or toroidal shape, the aggregates formed from a composition comprising abrasive grit particles and a nanoparticle binder, wherein the abrasive aggregates are dispersed within a polymer resin coating, and wherein the coated abrasive product is capable of superfinishing a metal surface having an initial Ra in the range of about 1.5 micro inches to about 12.5 micro inches prior to application of the coated abrasive product and after application the surface has an Ra of less than 1.0 micro inch.

The abrasive aggregates are formed from a composition of abrasive grit particles and a nanoparticle binder. The coating is at least partially embedded in the substrate. A method for making the macro-porous abrasive article includes combining abrasive aggregates of abrasive grit particles and a nanoparticle binder with a resin binder to form a slurry. The slurry is applied to a macro-porous support structure so that the slurry at least partially penetrates the substrate. The resin is then cured to bond the aggregate grains to the substrate.

An image-receiving element for use in photographic and photothermographic diffusion transfer film units of the type where the image-receiving element is designed to be removed, or 'peeled-apart' from a photosensitive element following exposure and photographic processing. The present image-receiving element comprises, in sequence, a support, an image-receiving layer and a strip-coat layer which serves to facilitate separation of the image-receiving element from the photosensitive element after photographic processing. The strip-coat layer comprises an anion of poly(acrylic acid), or a salt thereof, complexed with a cationic quaternary salt. In a preferred embodiment, the strip coat layer may include an ethoxylated alcohol.

The present image-receiving element comprises, in sequence, a support, an image-receiving layer and a strip-coat layer which serves to facilitate separation of the image-receiving element from the photosensitive element after photographic processing. The strip-coat layer comprises a cationic homopolymer or a copolymer of an acrylate with a quarternary salt functional group. The strip coat provides a glossy image after photographic processing.

There is described a novel diffusion transfer film unit for use in a diffusion transfer photographic system which includes a layer comprising a polyester urethane polymer(s) which is inert to alkali, and specifically, a layer which exhibits permeability to alkali inversely dependent upon temperature. Diffusion transfer photographic systems utilizing the diffusion transfer film unit of the present invention exhibit superior hot temperature processing.
