A mounting base for cartridge style electrical lamps includes a base member and a lead housing. The base member positions the mounting base with respect to the source of electrical power and the lead housing positions the cartridge lamp leads for engagement with a source of electrical power.

A lamp assembly includes a lamp socket adapted for receiving a lamp. The lamp socket has a rectangular subbase which includes at least one tang projecting upwardly from the subbase which is adapted to apply an outward force against the inner sides of the circular section of a hole in a circuit board or panel. The tang has at least one downwardly facing shoulder spaced upwardly from the upper surface of the subbase by a distance which is substantially the thickness of the circuit board or panel whereby the shoulder is moved to allow the insertion of the lamp assembly into the hole of the circuit board or panel and then moved back into position to hold the circuit board or panel under the shoulder upon the circuit board or panel engaging the subbase. Thus, the lamp assembly can be locked into position within the hole in the printed circuit board or panel without rotation, and then removed by rotating the lamp assembly.

Snap-in lamp for printed circuits

A mounting arrangement for use with a baseless electrical lamp includes an insulating fixture having a plurality of electrically conductive terminal members. The exposed lead wires which protrude from the press of the baseless electrical lamp engage the electrically conductive terminal members so as to both provide electrical current to the baseless electrical lamp and retain the baseless electrical lamp in the insulating fixture.

The invention relates to a base for a cartridge lamp of the type having at least one filament mounted on filament support legs extending through a seal of the bulb. According to the invention, a plug member has terminals affixed thereto for mounting the filament support legs. The plug member is adapted for keyed insertion into an opening. The terminals extend beyond the plug surface to form tangs which act as clamping fingers. The tangs also serve for contacting the connecting leads after the plug member has been rotated into a locking position.

The invention relates to a socket for a baseless cartridge lamp, particularly a two-filament cartridge lamp or a cartridge halogen lamp with contacts at opposite ends thereof.

A baseless light bulb is locked into a one-piece molded base and the base provides mechanical and electrical connection of the light bulb to a circuit board.

Lamp-base assembly

A dual filament lamp is installed in its cooperating socket without the use of intermediate base, cement or bulb stem. The elimination of the intermediate elements improves the ability to manufacture lamps having precise filament alignment with respect to their sockets.

Baseless cartridge lamp and socket therefor

A lamp assembly including a connector enabling mounting of the lamp assembly in an aperture in a wall by insertion from either side without the use of tools. The connector defines a cavity for receiving the lamp, and is tapered in both directions from a transverse annular mounting groove. The connector is also split or slotted longitudinally to enable radial compression during insertion into an aperture. Lamp leads are mechanically and electrically connected to connecting pins or to insulated wires by being press-fitted in crimped splices which are interference-fitted into portions of the connector cavity.
