Magnet wire with corona resistant enamel insulation may include a conductor and a multi-layer insulation system formed around the conductor. The insulation system may include a basecoat formed from a first polymeric enamel insulation. A midcoat formed from a second polymeric enamel insulation may be formed around the basecoat, and the second polymeric enamel insulation may include a filler dispersed in a base polyimide material. The filler may include between 20 percent and 80 percent by weight of silica dioxide and between 20 and 80 percent by weight of titanium dioxide. Additionally, the insulation system may include a topcoat formed from third polymeric enamel insulation formed around the midcoat.

Magnet wire with corona resistant polyimide insulation

Magnet wire with flexible corona resistant enamel insulation may include a conductor and a multi-layer insulation system formed around the conductor. The insulation system may include a basecoat formed from first polymeric enamel insulation, a midcoat formed from second polymeric enamel insulation, and a topcoat formed from third polymeric enamel insulation. The midcoat may include a filler containing silica dioxide and chromium oxide dispersed in a base polyamideimide material. Additionally, the magnet wire may exhibit few or no cracks in the topcoat when the wire is bent 180 degrees around a 4 mm mandrel.

The method includes steps for controlling sound amplification and tonal modification onboard an acoustic stringed instrument. The steps include sensing vibration from strings with a pickup, generating an electrical signal and transmitting the electrical signal to an amplification unit via an input cable, and modifying the electrical signal in response to one or more controllers located onboard the instrument.

System, apparatus and methods for musical instrument amplifier

A magnet wire insulation designed to withstand voltage wave shapes present in inverter driven motors for a sustained period of time is disclosed. A large surface area inorganic oxide, e.g., fumed silica, may be added into the magnet wire insulation for providing improved resistance to insulation degradation. Alternatively, a mixture of the large surface area inorganic oxide with a low resistivity oxide, e.g., chromium oxide, provides a greater improvement in resistance to insulation degradation. The present invention is particularly useful for extending the life of windings in a motor that is subjected to high voltage, steep wave shapes such as those found in inverter driven motors.

Magnet wire insulation for inverter duty motors

A magnet wire insulation designed to withstand voltage wave shapes present in inverter driven motors for a sustained period of time. A large surface area inorganic oxide, e.g., fumed silica, may be added into the magnet wire insulation for providing improved resistance to insulation degradation. Alternatively, a mixture of the large surface area inorganic oxide with a low resistivity oxide, e.g., chromium oxide, provides a greater improvement in resistance to insulation degradation. The present invention is particularly useful for extending the life of windings in a motor that is subjected to high voltage, steep wave shapes such as those found in inverter driven motors.

Traditional alternators, that is those non-inductor alternators employed in machines such as automobiles, provide either moving conductors which cut through a stationary magnetic field, or a moving magnetic field which passes over stationary conductors. In conventional inductor alternators, neither the field nor armature rotate. An electromotive force is induced in the output windings by periodic changes in the local reluctance of the magnetic circuit carrying the magnetic flux. The reluctance is governed by the shape of the rotor relative to the stator. By the elimination of the stator housing and of the rotor encompassing stator, this invention provides for the use, as inductor alternator rotors, of components which previously could not function as rotors.

Inductor alternators

An ultra-high solids content, organic solvent solution of polyester magnet wire enamel is described. The enamel is a tris (2-hydroxy-ethyl) isocyanurate polyester having a ratio of hydroxyl to carboxyl groups of 1.65 to 2.0:1 and a hydroxyl number of 216 to 316. Such enamels are produced with solids contents of greater than 70% by weight and viscosity less than 3,000 cps at 160.degree. C. The method of making such enamel by reacting a glycol, tris (2-hydroxy-ethyl) isocyanurate, and an aromatic diacid or diester, reacting this polymer with modifying phenolic and polyisocyanate and adding an aromatic titanate catalyst is also described.

Ultra-high solids theic polyester enamels

A high solids content, relatively low viscosity, organic solvent solution of polyester magnet wire enamel is described. The enamel is a tris (hydroxy-ethylisocyanurate) polyester having a ratio of hydroxyl to carboxyl groups of 1.65 to 2.0:1 and a hydroxyl number of 216 to 316. Such enamels are produced with solids contents of about 50 to about 70% by weight and viscosity less 1,500 cps at 200.degree. F. The method of making such enamel by reacting a glycol, tris (hydroxy-ethylisocyanurate), and an aromatic diacid or diester in the presence of a titanate catalyst is also described.

High solids THEIC polyester enamels

A method of improving the physical and electrical properties of polymer insulation coated electrical conductors is described. A non-ionic surfactant added to an organic solvent solution of insulation polymer followed by coating the solution on the wire, drying and curing, has been found to produce a coated magnet wire with improved concentricity and smoothness, therefore resulting in improvement in other wire properties as well.

Magnet wire coating method and article

A multiple part wheel cover comprises a retainer plate, separate axially inner and outer one-piece spoke assemblies, having spokes extending to outer free-standing ends and a hub cover. The retainer plate and inner and outer spoke assemblies are supported coaxially in predetermined axial spacing. Bending force is applied to the spokes to bend them resiliently within elastic limits sufficiently to align their radially outer ends respectively with recesses in the rim. Thereafter the bending force is progressively relaxed and the supported parts are simultaneously and progressively moved coaxially toward each other to cause the outer ends of the spokes to enter their recesses as the spokes straighten resiliently. The parts are then secured together by clamping the hub cover toward the hub of the retainer plate, whereupon removal of the outer ends of the spokes from their recesses is prevented.

Method of making a wheel cover simulating a wire spoke wheel

A vehicle wheel trim assembly comprises a molded flange member of hard, lightweight plastic material adapted to provide a form-sustaining backing and reinforcement for a thin outer ornamental layer and has an axial flange portion adapted to fit coaxially within an annular axial flange of a vehicle wheel. The axial flange portion of the trim assembly carries a plurality of circumferentially spaced resilient retainers adapted to engage the wheel flange yieldably at an interference fit for securing the flange member to the wheel.

Vehicle wheel trim

A multiple part wheel cover adapted to simulate a wire spoke wheel when attached to a vehicle wheel comprises a retainer plate, separate inner and outer one-piece spoke assemblies, and a hub cover. The retainer plate has a peripheral rim around a central hub and is adapted to be attached to the vehicle wheel. The rim also has two sets of spoke receiving recesses therein opening generally radially. Each spoke assembly comprises a one-piece injection molded plastic having an annular member of smaller diameter than the rim and integral with the radially inner ends of a plurality of spokes which extend from their inner ends to outer ends confined respectively within one of each of the two sets of recesses. The annular member of the inner spoke assembly lies adjacent to and axially outwardly of the hub of the retainer plate. The annular member of the outer spoke assembly lies adjacent to and axially outwardly of the annular member of the inner spoke assembly. The hub cover lies adjacent to and axially outwardly of the outer annular member and is clamped toward the hub to secure all the parts together. The wheel cover is fabricated by first forming the separate parts. The retainer plate and inner and outer spoke assemblies are then supported coaxially in predetermined axial spacing. Bending force is applied to the spokes to bend them resiliently within their elastic limits sufficiently to align their radially outer ends with their respective recesses in the rim.

Wheel cover simulating a wire spoke wheel

This invention relates to decorative wheel covers with resilient fastening clips retained between spaced flanges on the inner periphery of the cover for fastening the cover to the outer surface of the wheel. The clip is made from a strap of spring material having a U-shaped body portion which forms an anchor between the flanges and an arm portion reversely bent and extending thereover for engaging the inner diverging flange of the wheel. The body portion and the arm portion have sharp tangs which are forced into the material of the flanges of the cover and wheel to have the plurality of the clips firmly support the cover outwardly over the wheel surface.
