The present invention relates to anaerobically curable compositions made from renewable materials. In particular, an alpha-methylene-lactone is used with a (meth)acrylate component and a cure system to form an anaerobically curable composition.

An anaerobically curable composition comprising (i) a curing system for curing an anaerobically curable component, comprising a combination of a metallocene such as n-butyl ferrocene and acetyl phenyl hydrazine, (ii) the anaerobically curable component comprising: a) a solid resin component and b) a solid anaerobically curable monomer; and wherein the composition is in solid form and has a melting point in the range from 30° C. to 100° C. The metallocene may be present in the amount from about 0.05% to about 2.5% by weight based on the total weight of the composition and the acetyl phenyl hydrazine is present in the amount from about 0.05% to about 1.75% by weight based on the total weight of the composition. Compositions show greater bond strengths.

Anaerobically curable compositions comprising a metallacene and acetyl phenyl hydrazine curing system

A bonding system for bonding a plastic substrate to another substrate, the bonding system comprising a plastic substrate wherein the plastic substrate is impregnated with a transition metal; and an anaerobically curable composition. Cure of the anaerobically curable composition is initiatable by the transition metal when the anaerobically curable composition is contacted with the plastic substrate under anaerobic conditions.

Cure of anaerobic compositions

A curable composition based on a curable acrylate or methacrylate component; an organoborane initiator component; a vinyl ether component; and an activator for the organoborane component. The composition exhibits good storage stability and good bonding properties when used to bond low surface energy substrates.

Process for bonding substrates or parts and system including cyanoacrylate adhesive and accelerator composition

An activator composition may comprise a solution of one or more activators in a solvent mixture which comprises a volatile hydrocarbon and a cyclic ketone.
