A computer-implemented method, computer program product, and computer system is provided for establishing connectivity between user devices. The computer-implemented method includes: broadcasting a message to running processes on an operating system of the first user device to indicate that a requesting application is looking for a live connection channel to attempt discovery with a second user device to ascertain virtual proximity of the first user device with the second user device. The computer-implemented method further includes receiving a response from a live connection channel and attempting to verify pairing via the live connection channel to confirm a virtual proximity of the second user device with the first user device. The pairing provides information for establishing a subsequent connection between the first and second user devices via the requesting application.

An add-on for, or additional functionality integrated in, a web browser of the kind that logs visited web pages in history with their URL, HTML page title and a date/time stamp is provided. The history may additionally logs category tags and their confidence scores. The category tags may originate at least in part by extracting them from visited page content and may also propagate through from previously visited pages, for example when a page is opened by hyperlink from another page, the latter's category tags propagate through to the new page. The page-specific confidence scores may be determined by applying a scoring formula that mimics a user's mental association between a category tag and a web page. The category tags and their confidence scores may be then stored in the history log entry and the category tags may then be used to search the history.

The power distribution unit has a plurality of electrical power outlet sockets each for receiving a power plug and a power distribution system for supplying electrical power to each of the sockets. The power distribution unit includes an excess power detector for detecting an aggregate power drawn from the plurality of sockets and for actuating a disabling mechanism for disabling power supply for a subset of the sockets in response to the detected aggregate power exceeding a predetermined first threshold, wherein the subset of the sockets are sockets that are detected as currently not drawing power.

An electrical power distribution unit for overload prevention and a method for preventing overload of the electrical power distribution unit. The power distribution unit includes: (i) a plurality of sockets, each socket being an electrical power outlet socket, each socket having a plurality of receptacles for receiving corresponding pins of a power plug; (ii) a mechanical disabling mechanism configured to disable each socket that is unoccupied by a respective power plug; and (iii) an excess power detector configured to detect an aggregate power drawn from the sockets. The method includes: monitoring, by the excess power detector, a first aggregate power drawn from the sockets; and determining that the first aggregate power exceeds a predetermined first threshold and in response, actuating the mechanical disabling mechanism to disable each socket that is unoccupied by a respective power plug.

A safety apparatus for an electrical equipment rack includes a retractable safety device for preventing, when in an operational position, the extending of an extendable rail and an electrical equipment unit mounted thereon from a position internal to the rack to a position external to the rack, and for allowing the same when in a non-operational position. The position of the retractable safety device is linked to the position of a retractable rack support such that when the retractable rack support is lowered in its operative position the retractable safety device is in a non-operational position, and when it is raised in a raised inoperative position the retractable safety device is in an operational position preventing the extending of the extendable rail and an electrical equipment unit mounted thereon to a position external to the rack.

A method for scheduling data services in a heterogeneous storage environment is disclosed. In one embodiment, such a method includes instrumenting, in a heterogeneous storage environment, each of a plurality of storage systems to generate events when operations are performed thereon. The events are detected and indexed in a single namespace. These events may then be analyzed to generate a statistical model of I/O activity occurring in the heterogeneous storage environment over a period of time. From the statistical model, the method determines periods of reduced I/O workload across the heterogeneous storage environment. The method then schedules data services to occur during these periods of reduced I/O workload. A corresponding system and computer program product are also disclosed.
