The present invention is an apparatus and method for analyzing a fluid used in a machine or in an industrial process line. The apparatus has at least one meter placed proximate the machine or process line and in contact with the machine or process fluid for measuring at least one parameter related to the fluid. The at least one parameter is a standard laboratory analysis parameter. The at least one meter includes but is not limited to viscometer, element meter, optical meter, particulate meter, and combinations thereof.

Apparatus and method for fluid analysis

An X-ray fluorescence device and method are disclosed. The device includes a source block containing an X-ray source, a substantially X-ray transparent fluid flow path through the source block and proximate the X-ray source, and an X-ray detector separated from the X-ray source by the source block. First and second openings are provided in the source block between the X-ray source and the flow path and between the flow path and the detector respectively. In operation, source X-rays pass through the first opening and through the flow path. A portion of the source X-rays interact with a fluid in the flow path to create a fluid fluorescence response. The remainder of the source X-rays pass into a noise reduction cavity of the source block. The detector receives the portion of the fluid fluorescence response passing through the second opening and produces an output indicative of the presence and amount of selected components in the fluid.

Compact X-ray fluorescence spectrometer and method for fluid analysis

A bi-directional Joule-Thomson device comprising two nearly identical heating containers which are connected via tubing to a cooling head. The cooling head is contained within a low temperature vacuum cryostat. Each of the small diameter tubes enters a chamber in the body of the cooling head. The chambers are connected by a small diameter orifice. Heat exchangers at ambient temperature and/or thermoelectric devices are used to cause the temperature of the gases entering and leaving the heating containers and cryostat to be at or near ambient. Within the cryostat, the small diameter tubes are thermally connected so that the cold gas flowing outward will cool the hotter incoming gas. The power for operation is supplied through two heating elements (one in each of the nearly identical heating vessels). This device will continue to perform at reduced power even if one of the heating elements fails.

Pulsed heat engine for cooling devices

A shock absorbent support for an elongate member comprises a resilient shank with opposite first and second ends and an attachment means at the first end. A resilient body member at the second end has a slot with a receptacle portion and divides the body member into adjoining fingers each having an edge. The fingers are partable whereby the edges are sufficiently spaced for an elongate member to pass therebetween into the receptacle portion. A strap has a first end portion connectible to one of the fingers and a free end portion detachably connectible to another of the fingers for retaining the fingers in mutually closed relationship for retention of the elongate member in the receptacle portion.
