The present invention is directed to methods of treating a plant having a plant part. One method involves providing a plant having a plant part; applying an aqueous treatment formulation to the plant, where the aqueous treatment formulation comprises a thickener, a water soluble divalent salt, a foam control agent, a complexing agent, a film forming agent, and water; and harvesting the plant part, where the aqueous treatment formulation, when applied to a surface of a plant, creates a water fast film on the surface that permits permeation of an aqueous material to the plant while minimizing loss of moisture or loss of a plant treatment chemical from the plant as compared to when the composition is not applied to the surface of the plant. The present invention also relates to a methods of treating a harvested plant part and to the treated harvested plant parts.

Treatment for plants in conjunction with harvesting

There is disclosed a granular copper hydroxide dry flowable bactericide/fungicide having improved biological activity and a method for making and using same. A bactericide/fungicide is made by forming a homogeneous aqueous slurry containing between approximately 5% and 20% by weight (based on the total weight of all dry ingredients) of a first dispersant selected from the group consisting of partially neutralized polyacrylic acid having a pH of between approximately 5 and 10 and an average molecular weight of between approximately 1,000 and 10,000 and lignin sulfonate, between approximately 0% and 5% by weight (based on the total weight of all dry ingredients) of a second dispersant for bentonite clay, between approximately 40% and 80% by weight (based on the total weight of all dry ingredients) phosphate stabilized cupric hydroxide and between approximately 6% and 30% by weight (based on the total weight of all dry ingredients) bentonite clay; and spray drying the slurry to thereby form a dry free flowing granular bactericide/fungicide product. The slurry can also include antifoam and wetting agents. Other partially neutralized polycarboxylic acid polymers useful as the fast dispersant are also disclosed.

Agriculturally active materials, such as pesticides, herbicides and the like and a process for microencapsulating said materials. The present invention includes trifluralin having a polymorphic form characterized by a yellow color and a melting point of approximately 41.degree.-43.degree. C. The present invention also includes a method of using the yellow polymorphic form of trifluralin as a herbicide. In addition, the present invention includes a method of microencapsulating low-melting agriculturally active materials, such as trifluralin. The microencapsulation process comprises the steps of heating a low-melting, water-immiscible, agriculturally active material to a molten state. The molten active material is then combined with an aqueous solution of a water-soluble, film-forming polymer at a temperature sufficient to maintain the active material in its molten state. The active material is then dispersed or emulsified in the aqueous solution so that the active material has a primary particle size of between approximately 0.1 and 10 microns. The resulting dispersion or emulsion is then spray dried at a temperature between approximately 50.degree. and 220.degree. C. so as to microencapsulate the active material in the polymer. Compounds for promoting the rapid solidification of the active material are also disclosed.

Microencapsulated yellow polymorphic form of trifluralin
