A grip light for use with a tattoo machine having an exterior grip surface extending from an upper grip portion downward toward an opposite working end and surrounding a channel extending through the upper portion to the working end, light transmissive material running through the grip from a light receiving surface to a bottom surface of the working end, and a light pipe inlet for receiving light from a light pipe into the light receiving surface and thereby permitting light from the light pipe to be projected out from working end of the grip light to illuminate an area therebelow.

Diffusing light illuminating a light target or subject of a film or video production including placing a diffusion panel between a light source and a light target, energizing said light source so as to direct light therefrom through the diffusion panel, and electrically adjusting the transparency of the diffusion panel by changing an electric potential applied to electrodes of the diffusion panel. The electrically adjustable diffusion panel eliminates the need for manually changing diffusion papers or other filters and provides a continuous range of selectable levels of transparency/diffusion.

Electrically adjustable optical diffusion for luminaires

A Fresnel lighting instrument for use in film and video production, having a LED light engine mounted to a heat sink defining a first plane, a dual basket type focusing assembly adapted to longitudinally extend or retract a Fresnel lens away from and back to the first plane substantially without rotation along the longitudinal range of extension, to provide a fanless, cool operating, highly compact and lightweight Fresnel light suitable for studio or field use. The dual basket type design allows for transporting three Fresnel units in a standard milk crate since the unit collapses down whereas existing Fresnel lights all use a constant volume can-shaped housing within which the light source is repositioned.

An electrically adjustable optical diffusion panel for use in film or video production having a frame, diffusion material affixed to the frame, where the transparency of the material is continuously and variably changeable between a substantially transparent state and a substantially opaque state in response to an electric potential applied to electrodes of the material and a controller and battery. The electrically adjustable diffusion panel eliminates the need for manually changing diffusion papers or other filters and provides a continuous range of selectable levels of transparency/diffusion.

A method of lighting for use in motion picture and video production including, in various embodiments, the steps: providing lighting modules, each having one or more manual controls for controlling light output characteristics such as the intensity and hue of light produced and each capable of wirelessly communicating with other lighting modules over a wireless data network; interconnecting the lighting modules on the wireless data network; and adjusting the light produced by all lighting modules through adjustments using any one of the networked lighting modules.

Lighting system for use in motion picture and video production

An illumination system suitable for lighting in connection with the production of film or video includes one or more lighting modules, wherein each module contains a light engine, a heat sink to which the light engine is affixed, and a control system electrically connected to the light engine, the control system capable of adjusting both the color and intensity of light engine by means of one or more rotary concentric control knobs and pushbuttons affixed to the control system, and wherein the control systems of each module are interconnected by a wireless data network, so that all of the modules may be controlled by using the rotary control unit on any individual module.
