The invention is an insert () for a tray () used for storing or conveying a spectacle lens () and a spectacle frame (). The insert () is mounted to engage various outward extensions () formed as part of the tray floor (). The insert () includes numerous beveled surfaces (), at least some of which can engage a spectacle lens placed on the insert. A vulcanized rubber dispersed in a plastic matrix used to construct the insert (). A frame pillow () is formed as a sheet () which overlays the tray floor (), creating a space which reduces or eliminates movement of the spectacle frame () during tray transport.

A lens processing system used for removing a lens blank () from an edging block (). The system includes an elongated collet () that engages the mating edging block (). The block () includes an enlarged groove () that receives a pair of blades () extended upwardly from the floor () of the collet (). Each lens blank () is formed to include a series of surface markings () to verify proper functioning of the edging machine that forms a finished lens. Each lens blank also includes a series of circular markings () arranged in diagonal rows to verify the accurate drilling of bores with the lens blank ().

A lens deblocking system () used for removing a lens () from an edging block (). The system () includes opposed movable arms () that are constrained to travel longitudinally within an aperture () so as to grip a lens () that is adhesively secured to an edging block by a pad (). The edging block () is held within a clamp () that resides on a collet closer () which may be rotated by activating an air cylinder (). A cam push block () is linked to file cylinder () as well as a cam arm () that is attached to a spindle () extending from the collet closer (). In response to the movement of the push block () a rotational motion is imparted to the clamp () via the cam arm (). The rotation of the clamp () occurs while the lens () is still constrained against rotational movement between the movable arms () thereby physically breaking the bond between the pad () and the clamp () and permitting subsequent manual removal of the pad () from the lens ().
