A modular water leakage detector includes a housing that carries a plurality of water leakage sensors, an electrical water shutoff valve, and circuitry coupled thereto. In response to sensing water leakage, the circuitry actuates the valve to shut off a water supply. Detectors can communicate alarm indicating signals directly with one another. The detectors can include a wireless transmitter and communicate with a displaced alarm monitoring system.

Systems and methods for verified threat detection are provided. Some systems can include a sensor monitoring an ambient region and an image capturing device, wherein, upon the sensor detecting an alarm condition in the ambient region, the image capturing device is activated for capturing an image of the ambient region to determine whether the image is consistent with the alarm condition.

One method can include receiving a voice command from a user at a voice controlled device, determining a presence of the user to the device using a sensor, converting the voice command to a device specific command, and performing the device specific command using the device in response to the determined presence.

A detector of combustion products in air gaps adjacent to chimneys or flues has an air gap detection unit coupled to a displaced control unit. The control unit can be located adjacent to a proximal, exposed, surface of a wall. When so installed, the detection unit is located in an air space adjacent to the chimney or flue. The assembly can be removed for cleaning or maintenance.
