A therapeutic cushioning boot includes a foot portion configured to receive a foot of a user, and a leg portion configured to receive a leg of the user. The leg portion includes at least a first support chamber and a second support chamber. A first fiberfill material is provided in the first support chamber at a first concentration, and a second fiberfill material provided in the second support chamber at a second concentration that is less than the first concentration.

A patient turning sheet includes a flexible rectangular bottom sheet that has a surface area sized to support the majority of the body of a person lying on the patient turning sheet. A flexible rectangular top sheet is sewn to the bottom sheet and has a surface area less than the surface area of the bottom sheet. The top sheet is sewn to the bottom sheet, offset toward the head end of the turning sheet to be positioned at the area of maximum contact and load of the patient on the turning sheet. A foam pad is disposed between the bottom sheet and the top sheet that is relatively less flexible than the bottom or top sheets.

A pediatric air mattress adapted for therapeutic usage, including a first air bladder and a second air bladder each respectively including at least one plastic liner defining an outer edge about which the liners are sealed to define a first air chamber within the first air bladder and a second air chamber within the second air bladder. The mattress includes first and second two-way valves through which air is selectively imported to and exported from the first air chamber and the second air chamber, respectively. The first and second air bladders respectively define a first plurality and a second plurality of apertures therethrough. An air delivery system that includes an inflatable cushion device adapted to support at least a portion of a body of a user. The air delivery device includes a supply conduit in fluid communication with both an interior region of the inflatable cushion device and a controller. Using a pressure sensor, the controller is adapted to relatively continuously measure a static air pressure level of the interior region and compare the measured static air pressure level to a target air pressure level. Further, the controller is adapted to intermittently operate an air pump. Moreover, the controller may operate the air pump when measured static air pressure is below the target static air pressure level, and deactivate operation of the air pump, which may include maintaining the air pump in an un-operated condition when the measured static air pressure is within the target static air pressure level.

Medical advantages are provided by the novel improvements made to the inflatable foot cushion of the present invention to the inflatable foot cushion of U.S. patent application Ser. No. 13/432,068 and the Inflatable Foot Cushion of U.S. Pat. No. 5,328,445, including better protection of a patient's Achilles' tendon areas; better unloading of the pressures on the patient's heels due to the increased elevation of the patient's heels above substrates; and the prevention of left and right lateral rotation of the ankles of patients wearing the novel inflatable foot cushion of the present invention by its two novel lateral cushions formed by expanding the main chamber of the improved inflatable foot cushion of the present invention there between, which novel lateral cushions cradle and stabilize the improved inflatable chamber of the present invention when it is pivoted under the improved inflatable foot cushion of the present invention.

A mattress cover for use with air inflated mattresses that includes an integral hand check tunnel formed as part of the cover. The cover includes a top, a bottom, and sides extending between the top and bottom. Openings are formed along the longitudinal sides of the cover and permit access to an enclosed tunnel that extends between the sides of the mattress cover. Flaps are attached to the sides of the mattress cover over the openings along with devices for selectively opening and closing the openings. A caregiver can verify proper inflation of an air mattress placed within the cover by opening the flaps and extending a hand into the tunnel. The cover can be used with a single air inflated air mattress with the tunnel overlying the mattress, in a dual configuration where one air mattress is placed over the other with the tunnel being placed between the mattresses, or with an air mattress placed upon a foam base with the tunnel being placed between the mattress and foam base.

A substantially pillow-shaped, inflatable second cushion that is separable and removably interconnected together with the first cushion maintains proper foot flexion when the body is in the supine position, and is removable to allow ambulation while the foot and lower leg remain cradled in the first cushion. A substantially pillow-shaped, inflatable third cushion is pivotally attached to the bottommost compartments of the first cushion and is pivotally positionable either directly under the Achilles' heel area, or directly under the heel area, or tucked forward of the heel area to provide light compression of the ankle, foot and heel areas. An integral shoe spoon attached to the first cushion prevents the foot cushion from catching bed clothing. A rigid base is provided for rigidly fixing the first inflatable cushion in position to prevent contraction of the feet of comatose patients, for example. A novel connector with two-finger pinch-to-open releasing action provides easily adjustable straps to secure the first cushion non-circumferentially about a foot and lower leg.

In combination with an inflatable body support formed from a pair of plastic sheets joined together forming an air pressurizable chamber therebetween, the sheets having a plurality of aligned holes extending therethrough with the sheets being joined together around the circumference of each hole allowing body heat and moisture to flow through each hole but preventing air flow from the chamber into each hole, thereby providing an air cushion for supporting a person positioned thereatop that dissipates pressure, heat and moisture to prevent the onset of pressure sores and ulcers, the improvement which comprises: occluding the holes over which the torso, head and limbs of a person positioned atop the inflatable body support would not lie, thereby reducing the distension of the inflatable body support surrounding the occluded holes thereby volume centering the air within the air pressurizable chamber under a person positioned atop the inflatable body support; providing a pair of micro and macro adjustable, separable, and generally U-shaped anchoring straps, each strap having two generally boomerang-shaped halves disposed in mirror image relationship; and a novel connector that may be opened by two fingers that removably attaches the anchoring straps to the inflatable body support.
