An infusion pump is powered either from an ac line, a disposable battery or a rechargeable battery. The pump automatically differentiates between disposable and rechargeable batteries, and it includes an alarm activated when the pump senses that the battery has been depleted in accordance with the kind of battery in use.

Infusion pump with battery back-up

An intravenous set includes a spike or luer connector for receiving pharmaceutical product solution, a pumping section, an air eliminating filter, an anti-siphon valve and a connector for an IV access device. The air eliminating filter includes an in-line hydrophilic membrane and a hydrophobic membrane upstream thereof to vent trapped gases to the atmosphere. The anti-siphon valve has a positive crack pressure and is located downstream of the air eliminating filter.

Air eliminating intravenous infusion pump set

A semi-automatic infusion system for administration of neuromuscular agents and the like includes a microcomputer-controlled infusion pump with a data input pad. A clinician enters the desired paralysis level and performs periodically an electro-stimulation test to determine the actual paralysis level of the patient. This information is also entered in to the system by the physician which then calculates and administers a new dosage.

Physician closed-loop neuromuscular blocking agent system

The present invention is for a clamp for flexible tubing for an infusion or administrative set. The clamp has openings in which the tubing is inserted in a serpentine fashion to form a loop. The friction between the tube and surfaces of the clamp caused by this serpentine configuration allows the clamp to be maintained at any point along the tubing even while it is in the full flow position.

An intravenous tubing set is provided with luer connectors, an anti-siphon valve and peristaltic pump engaging means. The anti-siphon valve will permit flow through the intravenous tubing set only when a preselected positive pressure as measured from the proximal end to the distal end of the anti-siphon valve is achieved.

A prefilled syringe with a permanent cylindrical needle guard extending beyond the tip of the needle is disclosed. The needle guard is integral with the syringe holder so as to provide no exposure, selective or otherwise, of the needle. A removable needle guard is further provided. A tubing set is provided with a puncture port which fits in a liquid-tight manner into the cylindrical needle guard. The tubing set further includes anti-siphoning means and low volume tubing.

Prefilled syringe delivery system

An intravenous pole clamp contains a locking mechanism which employs a spring clutch. The clamp body has an attachment for a medical device and a chamber for receiving an I-V pole. A threaded stud is rotated inwardly to clamp the I-V pole. A spring having one fixed end and one free end is threaded onto the shaft of the threaded stud. A locking mechanism allows the free end of the spring to be unrestrained in a locked position. When unlocked, a pin of the locking mechanism slightly unwinds and restrains the free end of the spring freeing the threaded stud to rotate in either an inward or an outward direction. In a locked position, the threaded stud can rotate inwardly but if it is attempted to rotate it outwardly the spring clutches the threaded stud preventing outward rotation.

Intravenous pole clamp

Drive means for a small, lightweight, easily operated syringe infusion pump. A syringe is secured in a holder and the syringe plunger is moved by a pusher block of the drive means. The pusher block is advanced to the syringe plunger by squeezing a finger tab. This simultaneously decouples the pusher block from the internal drive and opens the antisiphon catch to allow quick and easy set-up. The pusher block is moved by the engagement of a floating halfnut on a threaded leadscrew. A force is applied to the halfnut by the block substantially near the midpoint of the leadscrew thereby greatly reducing force mechanisms that attempt to separate the leadscrew and halfnut. A relatively light first biasing means is on the block for applying a relatively small force between the halfnut and the leadscrew.

Battery operated miniature syringe infusion pump and improved halfnut

A small, light weight, battery operated, fixed speed syringe infusion pump is capable of being IV pole mounted. A disposable syringe is secured in a snap-in holder and the syringe plunger is moved by a pusher. The pusher is advanced to the syringe plunger by squeezing a finger tab. This simultaneously decouples the pusher from the internal drive and opens the antisiphon catch to allow quick and easy set-up. To initiate flow, a switch is moved to the 'on' position. The pusher is moved by the engagement of a nut on a threaded lead screw. The lead screw is rotated, through appropriate gearing, by a direct current motor. A force sensing system is included as part of the syringe holder and is used to detect end of syringe and occlusion. Visual indicators and audio alarms for infusion and warning and to sense condition of the batteries are provided.

Battery operated miniature syringe infusion pump

A miniature implantable magnetically actuated valve relatively insensitive to normally-encountered shock loads includes a housing for containing a movable ferromagnetic valve member. Inlet and outlet passages are provided in the housing at least one of which has an internal valve seat which is engageable by the valve member to close that passage. The valve member is resiliently suspended within the housing by special flat multiply-started spiral springs which permit the valve member only a single degree of freedom toward and away from the valve seat. The valve member is biased in one direction or the other and the valve is actuated transcutaneously by a magnet juxtaposed to the valve outside the body which produces a magnetic force on the valve member which exceeds and opposes the biasing force.
