Lifeline systems include a worker harness hooked and slideable along a cable attached to a ratchet mechanism and extending between posts, through stand off pipes, or the like and generally parallel to, but spaced from, sides of a tank. The lifeline system utilizes supports which can be removably attached to the reinforcement rib or the cantilevered edge of the tank. The supports can include fastening rings to connect to braces, stabilizers or the ratchet mechanism. The reinforcement rib is received in an omega shaped channel and sandwiched by a clamp located on the first side and moveable relative to a second side of the channel. The cantilevered edge is received between upper and lower plates extending in openings of C-shaped sides in a spaced, angled relation and is sandwiched by a fastener threadably received in the upper plate.

Tank lifeline system

A safety apparatus () includes a frame unit () placed on a surface (). A cable () is mounted around a pulley () rotatably mounted to the frame unit () about a rotation axis (). A slide () is slideably mounted to the frame unit () along a slide axis () at a non-parallel angle to the rotation axis () and movable between upper and lower positions. The cable () is attached between the slide () and a worker () on the surface (). A biasing member () is mounted between the slide () and the frame unit () and biases the slide () from the lower position to the upper position. An engaging member () is mounted to the slide () to move therewith. The engaging member () is above the surface () when the slide () is in the upper position. If the worker () falls from the surface, the engaging member () is moved downward and grips the surface () under the action of force resulting from falling of the worker () to retain the safety apparatus () on the surface and, thus, arrests the fall of the worker () from the surface ().

Safety apparatus for arresting a fall of a worker

A dual post receptor () of a safety rail system () has horizontal cross sections of an elongated shape with a width generally equal to and for slideable receipt of vertical posts () of conventional railings () and a length larger than double the diameters of the vertical posts (). Elongated horizontal slots () are located in sides () of the receptor () for receiving locking pins () also inserted through holes () in the vertical posts (). Mounting the receptor () can be accomplished in a variety of manners including secured to a planar, horizontal mounting plate () secured to the bottom edges of the enclosure, secured to a vertical mounting plate () having a horizontal securement plate (), secured to a protrusion () for slideable receipt in sockets such as in a truck bed, secured to a C-shaped clamp system of a variety of constructions, or the like.

Safety rail system

Cantilever gates () in the form of parallelograms include first and second bars () and a toe board () extending between and pivotally mounted to first and second posts () and moveable between closed and open positions. Gas struts () assist in moving the gate (). A lock () in the form of a pivotal latch () holds the gate () in its open position. A slide receptor () slideably receives the second post () as the gate () moves from the open to the closed position and can be removably secured to the support surface mounting plate (). A pair of cantilever gates () can have their respective second posts () slideably related.
