A tubular assembly includes a turbular member having at least one opening, and a sleeve slidingly mounted relative to the tubular member. The sleeve is shiftable between an open configuration in which the at least one opening is exposed and a closed configuration in which the at least one opening is covered by the sleeve. A degradable locking member is mounted relative to one of the turbular and the sleeve. The degradable locking member selectively retains the sleeve in the open configuration. The degradable locking member is configured to degrade when exposed to a downhole fluid allowing the sleeve to be shifted to the closed configuration.

A method of protecting a component in a wet environment includes disposing a component into a wet environment, deploying a granulated disintegrable material into the wet environment and temporarily covering a portion of the component with the granulated disintegrable material, at least partially disintegrating the granulated disintegrable material, and flushing the granulated disintegrable material away from the portion.

An actuation system and method, the system including a tubular having a passage, and an assembly disposed with the tubular. The assembly includes a degradable restriction, the restriction only partially blocking the passage prior to being degraded. The assembly is configured to receive and prevent further movement of a restrictor through the tubular prior to the restriction being degraded. The assembly is further configured to release the restrictor when the restriction is degraded.

A tubular actuation system includes a housing and an activatable sleeve including a first assembly having a first radially movable seat, a second assembly having a second radially movable seat, and an insert disposed between the first and second assemblies. The activatable sleeve is movable longitudinally from a first position to a second position, and from a second position to a third position within the housing.

A downhole assembly includes an isolation tool disposable downhole of a perforation gun. The isolation tool includes a tubular body having a seat, and an occluding device supported on the tubular body in an unseated position, and movable to a seated position on the seat in response to at least one of a firing operation of the perforation gun and a selected fluid velocity through the isolation tool. Fluid communication through the isolation tool is allowed in uphole and downhole directions in the unseated position of the occluding device, and blocked in the downhole direction in the seated position of the occluding device.

A tubular assembly includes a tubular having at least one opening. A slidable sleeve is slidingly mounted relative to the tubular. The slidable sleeve is shiftable between a first position, and a second position. A biasing member selectively biases the slidable sleeve in one of the first position and the second position. A degradable locking member is mounted relative to one of the tubular and the slidable sleeve. The degradable locking member selectively retains the slidable sleeve in the other of the first position and the second position. The degradable locking member is configured to degrade when exposed to a downhole fluid allowing the biasing member to shift the slidable sleeve back to the one of the first position and the second position.

A debris catcher can include an anchor connected to the wellbore tubular and a filter fixed to the anchor. The filter is positioned in a bore of the wellbore tubular and has an disintegrable accelerator material located in a carrier body. The debris catcher formed at least partially of a disintegrable accelerator material located in a carrier body is conveyed in a wellbore tubular. The disintegrable accelerator material is exposed to a downhole material in a subterranean fluid flowing through the wellbore tubular. The debris catcher filters the downhole material. It is emphasized that this abstract is provided to comply with the rules requiring an abstract, which will allow a searcher or other reader to quickly ascertain the general subject matter of the technical disclosure.

The frack plug has a sealing element that reforms when set to hold differential pressure. The element is granular with adhesive to hold the granular particles together but allow the shape to reform under setting force. The adhesive can be broken down with a chemical agent or in other ways to allow the seal to reform to the sealing position at the desired depth. As a result the structural components can disintegrate and the seal assembly can fragment into small pieces that can be circulated out of the well or allowed to drop to the hole bottom. The seal can have particles of controlled electrolytic materials (CEM), natural or synthetic sand, swelling or non-swelling rubber. The assembly can contain pellets that selectively release to initiate the breakdown of the structural components of the frack plug.

In one aspect, an anchoring device is disclosed, including: a degradable substrate with a first hardness; and a granular gripping material associated with the outer extent of the degradable substrate, wherein the granular gripping material has a second hardness greater than the first hardness. In certain embodiments, the granular gripping material is degradable. In another aspect, a method to anchor a downhole device is disclosed, including: providing a degradable substrate with a first hardness; and applying a granular gripping material to the outer extent of the degradable substrate, wherein the granular gripping material has a second hardness greater than the first hardness.

A frac plug mandrel assembly has an inner core that permits flow that is surrounded by a thin wall tube that distributes compressive loading, such as that applied by the set sealing element to the core. The core is a cylindrically shaped insert for inside the tube and allows flow until a ball or plug is landed on a seat to close off the flow through the core. The core can have a star pattern with a series of radially extending segments from a solid hub or a cylindrical shape of a honeycomb or other porous structure that has the requisite strength to resist collapse from compressive loading of the set sealing element while still allowing sufficient flow area for fluid displacement.

A fully disintegrating plug has a passage therethrough and a ball seat at an upper end. The seal material that comprises plastic nuggets, sand and a grease binder is initially disposed behind a protective sleeve. A wireline setting tool creates relative movement between a plunger and a mandrel body that has a ramp surface adjacent the outlet of the protective sleeve. The sleeve outlet is closed for running in but plunger movement pushes the seal material so as to displace the closure at the sleeve outlet with the seal material that is forced up the mandrel ramp surface and against the surrounding tubular. After an object is landed on the mandrel seat and the treating is concluded, the plug components are caused to disintegrate or otherwise fail for complete removal. Multiple plugs are contemplated for fracturing or other treating applications.

A cement masking system includes a tubular having a wall with at least one radial port. At least one swellable member is arranged to cover the at least one port. The at least one swellable member is configured to at least partially displace cement radially of the tubular during radial expansion of the at least one swellable member. A method of masking ports in a tubular from cement employs the cement masking system.

Configured to at least partially displace cement pumped on an exterior of the tubular in a radially expanded condition of the at least one member. Fractures are induced from lobe shaped inflatable members disposed at different axial locations along a string with frac ports in the circumferential gaps between the lobes. The lobes are inflated by landing a ball on a seat on a sleeve that is initially shifted enough to expose a fill port on each lobe. The lobes are inflated to a pressure that initiates fractures in the formation as the lobes extend. Further raising the pressure induces the sleeve to move a second time to open frac ports. The annulus can be cemented and fracturing can penetrate the cement to further propagate the initiated fractures from lobe inflation. The process is repeated at different levels until the zone of interest is completed. Sensors can relay information by telemetry techniques as to the onset of fractures or other well conditions. The sleeve for the frac ports can be moved in a variety of ways without intervention tools.

In one aspect, an apparatus for use in a borehole includes a tubular disposed in the borehole. The apparatus also includes an expandable device disposed outside the tubular and proximate a selected device, the expandable device including a material that causes the expandable device to expand from a first shape to a second shape when exposed to an activating fluid. In addition, the expandable device reduces vibration of the selected device when the expandable device is in the second shape.
