An automatic sensing article/toothpick dispenser with sanitizing capability. The dispenser is configured to store a plurality of toothpicks in a hygienic storage compartment specifically designed to prevent contaminants from entering the storage compartment. The dispenser is further configured to automatically dispense the toothpicks individually in an unwrapped, ready-to-use configuration, wherein the dispenser is configured and adapted to mitigate contact between the user and the dispenser so as to reduce the likelihood that contaminants may be transferred from the user to the dispenser.

A coin drop mechanism comprises a support member movably connected to a channel member. A contoured channel configured to receive at least one coin is formed on at least one of the members and defines a coin slot when the members are in contact with each other. The channel is configured to guide the at least one coin to a desired location aligned with an actuator opening on the members. The mechanism further comprises an actuator. The actuator comprises a actuation member configured to travel through the actuator opening, engage the at least one coin against a surface of the channel member, and displace the channel member relative to the support member causing a selected product to be dispensed from a product receptacle.

A mop has a shaft, a housing at a distal end of the shaft, a sponge movably coupled to the housing, and a pair of rollers. The pair of rollers are movably mounted to the housing spaced apart from each other and straddle at least a portion of the sponge. The mop also comprises an actuator configure to move the sponge between the rollers from a retracted position to a deployed position. At least one scrubbing element is disposed on at least one of the rollers, the scrubbing element configured to automatically move into a deployed position as the sponge is moved into the retracted position, the scrubbing element also configured to automatically move into a retracted position as the sponge is moved into the deployed position.

A method of molding a plastic brace into a sponge mop head and an apparatus for retaining a sponge mop head within a plastic brace. The method and apparatus includes a sponge assembly for use with wringer-type mops which include a sponge mop head firmly held by a plastic brace thereto. The brace is provided with a plurality of stitching members for retaining the sponge mop head within the plastic brace. The brace has an attachment member for operative attachment in a simple manner to the wringer-type sponge mop.

A manual currency operated vending machine includes a mechanism for preventing customers from depositing a currency into the vending machine when the machine is out of product. The vending machine comprises two parallel vertical magazines for containing flat packages and tubular packages. A currency operated dispensing mechanism includes a currency operating knob connected to a blocking mechanism through a rotatable shaft. The blocking mechanism is positioned at the bottom of each magazine for supporting the articles and preventing them sliding out, and also for allowing the lowest article out of the magazine and into a trough at the vending opening slot. When the currency operating knob is turned, it allows a currency to be deposited into the vending machine. The knob turns the rotatably shaft which in turn moves the blocking mechanism into an unobstructed position allowing the lowest article out of the magazine and into the trough at the vending opening slot. At the same time, the magazine supports the remaining articles thereto. When the knob is further turned, it moves back to its initial position, thereby blocking the next product from being dispensed. The currency operated dispensing mechanism also has a spring-biased blocking member located at the top of the mechanism and when depressed blocks a passageway and prevents a currency from being deposited into the vending machine.

A mop holding apparatus requires the use of only one foot to operate the apparatus, and which is designed that a holding mechanism can be applied to hold loose ends of a mop head of a mop from turning when the mop is being wrung. The holding apparatus includes a bucket, a holding mechanism, and an operating mechanism. The holding mechanism is mounted on the top of the bucket. It includes a bottom plate, a first extending arm formed with the bottom plate and extending upwardly therefrom, and a second movable extending arm connected with the first extending arm at converging ends. The bottom plate has perforations therethrough for allowing fluid to drain to the bottom of the bucket from the mop head when the mop is wrung. The operating mechanism includes a foot pedal mounted on the bucket and a strap operatively interconnecting the foot pedal to the second movable extending arm of the holding mechanism, where the foot pedal is operative on depression of the foot pedal to produce a closing movement on the second movable extending arm to move toward the first extending arm for holding the loose ends of the mop head, and thereby also allows the fluid from the mop head to drain through the perforations of the bottom plate of the holding mechanism and into the bucket.

A manual record cleaner that is manually grasped and engaged with a rotating record to provide effective cleaning of the record grooves as well as removal of static electrical charge from the record. A body of the cleaner includes rigid leading and trailing projections spaced from each other and having coverings of a soft pile for cleaning the records. A receptacle mounts the cleaner and has a first compartment that receives the leading projection and a second compartment that receives the trailing projection. Within the first compartment, an absorbent material is mounted on the receptacle in a spaced relationship from the pile covering of the leading projection so that cleaning liquid applied thereto creates an atmosphere that dampens the leading projection pile covering the proper amount. Static charge on a record being cleaned and dust accumulation are removed by the dampened leading projection while the dry trailing projection removes any remaining dust accumulation. A brush and a static charge dissipating member are mounted on the body between the leading and trailing projections. Bristles of the brush extend from the body a slightly greater distance than the projections so as to loosen dust accumulation within the record grooves. The charge dissipating member extends from the body a slightly lesser distance than the projections so as to be spaced relative to records being cleaned and thereby functions in removing static electrical charge from the records.

A control system (14) for a vehicle air conditioner driven by an associated internal combustion engine of the vehicle is disclosed as including a control circuit (40) for selectively operating the air conditioner to provide cooling of the vehicle in a manner that conserves fuel without appreciably affecting passenger comfort. A sensor (62) of the control system is responsive to an increased power demand on the engine to automatically suspend operation of the air conditioner by the control circuit until the engine output is subsequently increased with respect to the power demand. The control circuit preferably provides electrical operation of the air conditioner compressor which is driven by the engine and the sensor (62) senses the intake manifold vacuum of the engine to automatically suspend compressor operation whenever the vacuum falls below a predetermined extent. A temperature switch (74) of the control circuit senses the engine operating temperature to maintain compressor operation during engine warmup even when the intake manifold vacuum falls below the predetermined extent at which compressor operation is normally suspended. A tachometer (78) of the control circuit senses vehicle speed and operates switch ( 80) to maintain the compressor operation whenever the speed sensed is above a predetermined value even when the intake manifold vacuum falls below the predetermined extent at which compressor operation is normally suspended.
