An electro-mechanical indicator system for signaling when a droppable object (such as, for example, a dart, plug or ball) is released during well cementing operations. A body section has first and second chambers divided by a fluid and pressure sealing barrier. A mechanical trigger mechanism is situated in the first chamber, which is exposed to elevated pressures and harsh wellbore fluids. Less robust components, such as sensor(s), power source(s), and signal device(s) located in the second chamber, remain isolated from the wellbore environment and elevated pressures.

A remotely operated lifting top drive cement head has a high tensile strength and the ability to swivel or rotate. The cement head permits selective launching of darts, setting plugs, balls or other objects which can be held in place within the cement head without being damaged or washed away by slurry flow, but which can be launched as desired. The cement head can be remotely operated without requiring personnel to be lifted off the rig floor to actuate the tool or observe tool status.

A method and apparatus for heating fluid comprising a rotor with a first hole and a second hole. The apparatus comprising an intake port, a discharge port and a pocket spaced apart from the rotor. The fluid enters the apparatus through the intake port and the rotor rotates causing the fluid to flow through the first hole, collide with the pocket, flow though the second hole and leave the apparatus through the discharge port.

Apparatus and method for heating fluid

A subsea lifting top drive cement head in which cement flows from the top. The cement head includes lower and upper assemblies with a bore for fluid flow, and a body in sure lock connection with the lower and upper assemblies and having a dart cage to prevent a dart inside the dart cage from being washed away by the cement flow. In addition, the cement head includes a ball dropper that does not need to be retracted prior to releasing the dart.

Lifting top drive cement head

A method of generating heat and a heat generator comprising a rotor with an intake port, a plurality of inner and a plurality of outer holes. The heat generator also comprises a front rotor housing for housing the rotor. The front rotor housing has a plurality of pockets and a discharge port. The fluid enters the heat generator through the intake port and the rotor rotates forcing the fluid through said the inner holes causing the fluid to collide with the pockets and return through the outer holes and flow out of the heat generator through the discharge port.

Apparatus and method for generating heat

A pressure balanced ball valve assembly includes a ball valve mounted within a unitary cage which has limited axial movement within a stationary tubular body. Annular pistons are slidably mounted within the cage for movement toward and away from the outer surface of the ball valve. Pressure transfer balance conduits extend from locations on one side of the ball valve to annular chambers at opposite ends of the cage. The effective area on the ball valve subjected to upstream pressure is balanced by the effective area of an annular chamber in which the same unit pressure acts on the downstream end of the cage. The balance conduits each lead from one side of the ball valve to a remote chamber at the other end of the cage.

Pressure balanced ball valve

A device for coupling two pipe sections together such that each of the connected pipe sections may swivel relative to the other. Each of the pipe sections have uniform and equal exterior diameters into which circumferential grooves, preferably a pair, are formed. The pipe sections are held together by a split clamp having inwardly extending ribs which mate with the grooves formed in the pipe sections. The size of the pipe section grooves and the split clamp ribs provide an annular space in each groove inwardly of the split clamp rib in which resides a compressible bearing ring. A washer ring separates and seals between the ends of the two pipe sections. The resulting pipe coupling is largely symmetrical about both its radial and axial centerpoint planes. Under pressure, the load is equalized over the multiple bearing rings.

High pressure swivel coupling

A device for connecting two pipes for carrying abrasive material under high pressure employs a flange member welded to an end of one of the pipes and a ring member welded to an end of the other pipe. The pipes and both members have the same internal diameter. One or both pipes may be cold formed into a curved shape. An outward-extending rib on the ring member and a shoulder on the flange member are encircled by a tension sleeve having an inwardly directed lip at each end. The tension sleeve comprises two semi-circular halves. One or more continuous circumferential bands encircle the tension sleeve to hold the two halves together against radial separation. An anti-friction bearing assembly between one of said lips and a shoulder on the ring member permits relative turning movement between said pipes. An axial projection on the ring member is received within a recess in the flange member, and seal means are provided between the projection and the recess.
