A modular slide for use on a staircase includes at least a first slide module with an entry section having an entry surface defining a seat and a gripping surface substantially opposite the entry surface. The modular slide also has a ramp section with an elongated surface extending from the entry section towards a terminal end of the ramp section, an underside being configured to rest upon portions of the staircase, and two opposing sidewalls spanning both the ramp section and the entry section and having an upper edge defining a handrail. An identical second slide module is configured to overlap and integrate with an upper portion of the first slide module to form a continuous slide surface and a continuous handrail of an extended modular slide.

A fryer for deep frying a turkey has an outer cooking pot for containing hot oil. A splatter sleeve is telescopically slidable into the pot, the sleeve having a surrounding side wall, an open top surrounded by a top sleeve rim and an open bottom surrounded by a bottom sleeve rim. A lid is sealingly seatable upon the top sleeve rim and has a lid hole. A lid latch latches the lid to the top sleeve rim. A turkey support has a turkey support base, extends upwardly from the base to a handle top end and is insertable through the hole in the lid. When these components and a turkey are assembled, suspended from the handle and lowered into hot cooking oil, the sleeve is sufficiently long that it enters the oil before the turkey thereby assuring a complete splatter barrier.

A multi-function network printing device includes customizable functions and user interfaces for one of several identified vertical industry spaces. The method includes the steps of: (a) providing a multi-function network printing device; (b) identifying a business purpose having specialized needs; and (c) customizing the built-in functions and the associated GUI icons based upon the specialized needs of the identified business purpose. In a more specific embodiment, the customizing step includes the step of adding additional functions to the multi-function device and associated icons displayed on the graphical-user-interface. In yet a further detailed embodiment, the customizing step includes the steps of: (i) providing a plurality of customization programs, each of which are associated with a particular business purpose; (ii) selecting one of the plurality of customization programs depending upon the business purpose identified in the identifying steps; and (iii) running the selected customization program on the multi-function device.

A mounting system for a beverage container includes a cup holder having a pair of upright spaced-apart arms forming a yoke terminating in a first pivotal connection with opposite ends of a semi-circular retaining ring. The first pivot further includes connection with the opposite ends of a semi-circular arm having a midsection that includes a thrust bearing pivot attachable to a support hanger. The hangar has a shaped receptacle so as to provide releasable attachment with a pin on the semi-circular arm of the holder and cantilevers the holder outwardly from a supporting surface. The retaining ring is a &ldquo;flip-over&rdquo; loop which permits assembly of a container into the holder as well as easy removal therefrom. The first pivot connection includes a bearing pressed into the terminating ends of the yoke arms and is employed to movably mount a stud which includes a central portion for supporting the opposite ends of the retaining loop between the opposite ends of the semi-circular arm and the terminating ends of the yoke for the cup holder.

Mounting system for a beverage container

A slope block assembly having a bubble level with an eccentrically mounted slope block detachably carried on one end of the level. The slope block has an offset turning axis with a plurality of supporting surfaces, all located at different distances from the turning axis. The support surfaces cooperate with an undersurface or support point on the level to direct a laser beam at a desired angle with respect to a round or flat reference surface. Grooves are provided on the slope block support surfaces as well as on the level undersurface to support the level and slope block assembly on a round or curved reference surface.

A fastener driving assembly or tool includes a metal handle having opposite ends with an elongated driver shaft projecting from one end and a swivel knob installed on the other end. An electrical insulator is installed between the handle and the driver shaft and an insulating filler secures the shaft, insulator and handle together. The handle includes a recess for storing a lever arm or breaking bar adapted to outwardly pivot with respect to the longitudinal axis of the handle and driver shaft. A pivot rotatably connects one end of the lever arm with the handle.

A bore centering apparatus includes an elongated level having a laser beam generator at one end insertably received into the center of a centering cone placed within a hole in a wall. Adjustment of the level is made by turnbuckles which adjustably connect the level to the front face of the wall into which the centering cone is placed. The laser beam generator transmits a beam through the centering cone along its central longitudinal axis and therefore is coincident with the central longitudinal axis of the hole so that the beam terminates at a remote or spaced-apart intended target. Offset lines in degrees are carried on the external surface of the centering cone so that layout directions can be derived quickly. A protractor plate may be incorporated into the assembly at the base of the centering cone to set the desired degree of offset. By combining a 45 degree or 30 degree offset mark on the bore cone, the bore assembly is tilted accordingly to show compound angle layouts or directions of mechanical runs.

A combined laser beam level and square apparatus includes a level having slots or openings along a common side so that the slots or openings may receive a rule or square device that is pivotally mounted thereon so as to be selectively placed in coextensive slots or openings of the level. The coextensive slots include shoulder guides which align the rule into a particular angular orientation such as a 90 degree position with respect to the level or 45 degree orientation or position with respect to the level. Releasable securement means are provided for retaining the level and a base, if used, in a fixed position and other retaining means are provided for holding the rule fixed to the level while in a selected coextensive slot or opening.

A networked system having a host computer and multiple printers with bi-directional communications capabilities is provided in which the setup (configuration) of one printer can be easily communicated to another printer, using NPAP messages. The host computer can be used by a Network Administrator to 'read' the setup or configuration information inside each of the printers connected to the network that have the required NPAP bi-directional communications capability. This setup information, once communicated to the host computer, can be stored in a long-term memory, such as a hard disk drive, for future reference. The setup information can also be communicated to one or more printers connected to the network, and such printers can be configured by the setup information in which that information is used either as their initial setup information, or as a modified setup. The Network Administrator can use a single command that specifies precisely which printers are to receive that setup information, and all specified printers will automatically be reconfigured with the new setup.

Method and apparatus for configuring the physical setup of multiple

An improved printing system is provided having at least one host computer and a printer in which the printer acquires print job accounting information and communicates it to the host computer via NPAP messages. A host computer downloads print job data to the printer through a communications port on the printer (i.e., either a parallel port, serial port, or network port), and as the printer prints the print job that it received from the host computer, the printer temporarily stores job accounting information. At the end of the print job, the printer communicates that job accounting information back to armed host computers via a bi-directional communications port, including typical information such as: the job identifier number, job processing time, number of sheets of paper from each paper source, number of impressions from each paper source (either one-sided or two-sided impressions), the port identifier, the network user name, the name of the print job (as specified), and the printer's serial number. Since the data is being accumulated at the printer, rather than at the host computer, there is no estimating by a host-resident program to acquire these statistics, and no data base merging (from several host computers) is required to categorize all of the data for one particular printer. Furthermore, the print jobs need not pass through a network queue in order to be detected and accounted for.

Method and apparatus for configuring multiple printers on a network

An improved printing system having a host computer and a printer is provided in which the printer has a memory of sufficient size capable of temporarily storing multiple print jobs. The host computer can be utilized by a user or a Network Administrator to 'view' the contents of a print queue within the printer, in which the queue holds one or more print jobs as these print jobs await printing. The host can inform the printer when a particular print job in the queue is to be deleted or undeleted. Deleted jobs are effectively removed from the queue and are not printed; however, such deleted jobs can be reinstated (or 'undeleted') during the time interval between the delete command being received at the printer and when this job would have become the immediate subject for being interpreted, and the particular print job (which really never lost its place in the queue) returns to the queue and has its data sent to the interpreter when its turn to be dispatched occurs, and finally becomes printed. The various stages of a print job migrating through the printer are used to inform the user/Network Administrator at the host as to the status of the entire print queue, upon request by the user/Network Administrator. The list of current jobs in the printer's queue and the 'location' of each of these print jobs is displayed on the monitor at the host in a form that identifies the job name and the status of each job. In one preferred embodiment, a 'list box' of the host's display monitor can present up to twenty-five (25) current jobs in the order that they will be operated on by the printer.

Method and apparatus for providing a printer having internal queue job

An improved networked system having a host computer and multiple printers is provided in which the printers have a bi-directional data communications capability and have at least one memory device capable of storing print data and other types of data files. The host computer can be utilized by a user or a Network Administrator to 'read' the contents of each memory device on each printer connected to the network that has the NPAP bi-directional communications capability. The user/Network Administrator can de-fragment data files (e.g., print job files) on a flash RAM memory device, or can format one of the memory devices of a printer (which deletes all of the files stored on that memory device). Furthermore, the user/Network Administrator can transfer a file from the memory of one of the printers on the network to the memory of a second of the printers on the network. When a given resource management function has been completed, an updated resource directory is automatically displayed at the host which includes all of the changes resulting from the earlier resource management function command. Once the printer receives an NPAP command of the type that accesses the resource management capabilities of the printer, the printer's Emulation Manager will control the execution of the resource management function that has been received. The Emulation Manager communicates the command along with the required arguments to the Common File System, which performs the actual data manipulation of any of the files in the memory devices.

Method and apparatus for providing remote printer resource management

An improved printer is provided that predicts how many pages can be printed before the toner or ink cartridge becomes empty, and also predicts how much time remains before this toner or ink cartridge becomes empty. This prediction is based upon the previous printing history of the printer while using this particular toner cartridge. After measuring the quantity of toner left in the toner cartridge, the printer of the present invention will display the approximate quantity of toner remaining in the cartridge on a screen of a host computer that is connected to the printer, either directly or through a network. The monitor screen of the host computer can also display the predicted number of pages remaining, based on the printer's previous usage history as described above. The toner measuring device provides a 'level change' output signal when the remaining toner passes through a predetermined gradation threshold, and depending upon the size of the toner cartridge and upon the time and date at which the level change was detected, the predicted number of pages remaining and the actual amount of toner remaining are more accurately updated upon reaching one of these predetermined gradation thresholds. As each gradation level transition occurs, the printer calculates a new value for the 'pages per gradation' variable, and also calculates the number of pages that have been printed since the latest cartridge was installed in the printer, the number of pages printed since the last level or gradation change, and the number of pages or sheets printed between the last two level changes. The printer also can approximate the amount of toner used in printing a particular page of print media to create a Toner Tally for each printed page, which can be used to judge the amount of toner used for one print job and compare that to the amount of toner used for a second print job. The Toner Tally uses a combination hardware/software counter to count the number of 'active' pels of each page for a print job.
