The invention describes improved methods and compositions for producing a recombinant protein, e.g., an antibody, in mammalian cell culture. The invention described herein relates to photobioreactors, methods, assembly and use of such apparatus for culturing light-capturing organisms in a cost-effective manner. Various embodiments provide for a passive thermal regulation system employing selected microorganisms in a photobioreactor apparatus and methods for biological production of various fuel and chemical products from these organisms. Additional embodiments provide a solar biofactory system capable of culturing light capturing organisms to an areal productivity of 3.3 g/m2/hr. Further embodiments are directed to a photobioreactor capable of culturing light capturing organisms to an ODof about 14 g/L DCW. Such embodiments incorporate passive thermal regulation and systems.

A connector assembly is provided for connecting an electrical lead to the electrical contact of an electrode. The connector assembly includes a retention plate having an opening configured to receive the electrical contact of the electrode therethrough such that the retention plate is held on the electrode, and a housing including a body and a receptacle extending into the body. The receptacle includes a size and shape that is complimentarily to the electrical contact of the electrode such that the receptacle is configured to receive at least a portion of the electrical contact therein. The receptacle is configured such that when the electrical contact is received within the receptacle, the receptacle is configured to hold a portion of the electrical lead within the receptacle between the electrical contact and the body of the housing such that the electrical lead is engaged with and electrically connected to the electrical contact. A connection member is configured to hold the housing on the retention plate.

An electrode lead set is provided for electrical connection to a body. The electrode lead set includes a flexible ribbonized cable core extending between a proximal end portion and a distal end portion. The distal end portion includes a plurality of branch end portions that are each configured to hold an electrode. The flexible ribbonized cable core is separable into a plurality of branches that are each joined to adjacent branches by a separable interface prior to separation. Each of the plurality of branches includes a corresponding one of the branch end portions. Each of the plurality of branches includes a generally planar ribbon conductor extending along the corresponding branch from the proximal end portion of the ribbonized cable core to the corresponding branch end portion.

A termination cap is provided for terminating an electrical lead to a stud of an electrode. The termination cap includes a body and a receptacle extending into the body. The receptacle includes a size and shape that is complimentary to the stud of the electrode such that the receptacle is configured to receive at least a portion of the stud therein. The receptacle is configured such that when the stud is received within the receptacle, the receptacle is configured to hold a portion of the electrical lead between the body and the stud such that the electrical lead is engaged with and electrically connected to the stud.

A cap facility for a medical cable having a terminal defining a rimmed chamber containing electrical contacts. The facility has a frame that connects to the terminal. An arm is connected to the frame, and is movable between a first closed position and a second open position. The arm is biased to the closed position, and has a cap adapted to enclose the rimmed chamber when the arm is in the closed position. The cap has an arcuate motion path between the open position and an intermediate position proximate to the closed position, and an initial motion path deviating from the arcuate path, such that the cap moves away from the rim initially upon departing from the closed position. The facility may have a camming mechanism that provides the path.
