A heat exchanger plate provides heat transfer between a first flow along a first flowpath and a second flow along a second flowpath. The heat exchanger plate has a substrate having: a first face and a second face opposite the first face; a leading edge along the second flowpath and a trailing edge along the second flowpath; a proximal portion having a plurality of inlet ports along the first flowpath and a plurality of outlet ports along the first flowpath; and a plurality of passageways along the first flowpath. Each passageway extends between a respective associated said inlet port of the plate and a respective associated said outlet port of the plate.

A method of assembling a part is provided and includes forming a first section of the part, defining, in the first section, passages with dimensions as small as 0.005 inches (0.127 mm), forming a second section of the part, metallurgically bonding the first and second sections whereby the passages are delimited by the first and second sections and executing the metallurgically bonding without modifying a condition of the passages.

Hybrid bonded configuration for blade outer air seal (BOAS)

A heat exchanger for providing thermal energy transfer between first and second flows along first and second flowpaths has a plate bank having a plurality of plates. Each plate has: opposite first and second faces and leading and trailing edges along the second flowpath; a proximal edge having along the first flowpath: at least one inlet port; at least one outlet port; and at least one passageway. An inlet manifold has at least one inlet port and at least one outlet port. An outlet manifold has at least one outlet port and at least one inlet port. A shroud links distal portions of the plates.

A heat exchanger is provided and includes parting sheets flat along a first axis and curved along a second axis perpendicular to the first axis, a fin sheet interposed between the parting sheets and corrugated along the first axis to form fins that are curved along the second axis and diffusion bonds formed along an entire length of a fin to diffusion bond the entire length of the fin to the parting sheets.

A heat exchanger includes parting sheets and a fin sheet interposed between the parting sheets and corrugated along a first axis to form fins. Each of the fins is segmented to define gaps, which are arranged along a second axis perpendicular to the first axis, and which cooperatively accommodate curvatures of the parting sheets and the fin sheet in a third axis perpendicular to the first and second axes.

A heat exchanger including a primary inlet manifold and a primary outlet manifold supporting at least one tube bundle at opposite ends; said at least one tube bundle including an inlet end piece with each of a first tube, a second tube and a third tube fluidly coupled in series to an outlet end piece; and the first tube, the second tube and the third tube forming one of a coiled tube arrangement and a straight tube arrangement.

A heat exchanger stack can have multiple layers of the heat exchanger element, and a method for making the heat exchanger is disclosed. The structure produces advantageous flow characteristics.

The metallurgical bonding involves the application of an electrical current across the bond line and results in a retention of a metallurgical structure of the first portion and of a metallurgical structure of the second portion immediately adjacent to a bond line. The first portion has a first dominant property and the second portion has a second dominant property. The first dominant property is different from the second dominant property. The first dominant property is selected to handle operating conditions at a first position of the article where the first portion is located and the second dominant property is selected to handle operating conditions at a second position of the article where the second portion is located.

A turbine engine system includes at least one hydrogen fuel tank, a core flow path heat exchanger in a core flow path; and engine systems located in the core flow path. The engine system including at least a compressor section, a combustor section having a burner, and a turbine section. The core flow path heat exchanger is arranged in the core flow path downstream of the combustor section. The hydrogen fuel is supplied from the at least one hydrogen fuel tank through a hydrogen fuel supply line, passing through the core flow path heat exchanger and then supplied into the burner for combustion.

A method of forming a component includes defining a component volume discretized by a target mesh formed by a plurality of volume elements, each volume element defined, at least in part, by a shape function. The method further includes defining a parting surface within a representative volume element and discretizing the parting surface using a surface mesh that includes a plurality of surface elements and a plurality of surface nodes. The method further includes mapping the surface mesh into each volume element of the target mesh according to the quartic, or higher order, shape functions of the target mesh and forming a component based on the component surface structure produced by the mapped surface mesh.
