A closure for a container including a downwardly depending skirt having an upper end and a bottom end and a periphery defining a perimeter of the closure for sealable connection to the mouth of said container. Each of two side edges of the lid has a proximal end adjacent a different side of the hinge on the skirt and angling outwardly from the hinge at increasing distances from the opposing side edge to a distal end defining a different end of the outer edge. The end wall has shoulders integrally formed with the end wall and skirt proximate the upper end of the skirt on opposite sides of the lid hinge. The shoulders extend across portions of the end wall such that the thickness of the end wall in the regions of said shoulders is thicker than a thickness of said end wall free of the shoulders.

A closure for a container is disclosed having an end wall with one or more product dispensing openings therein. The closure has a flip open lid hingedly connected to the outer edge of the end wall and movable between a closed and an open position. The end wall has stiffening shoulders on opposite sides of the hinge and extending proximate the edges of the lid so as to stiffen the end wall against deformation upon application of the closure to the container.

A closure for a container having a mouth wherein the closure is adapted for sealable connection to the mouth of the container and includes an end wall at the upper end of the skirt for closing the mouth when the closure is mounted to the container. The closure includes an opening in the end wall for dispensing a product held by the container and a first flap that has at least one flap aperture that is smaller than the opening. The first flap is adapted for selectively opening and closing the opening. A second flap is adapted for overlaying the first flap and includes a first state wherein one or more of the flap apertures in the first flap are open and a second state wherein the flap apertures in the first flap are sealed.

An improved ink cartridge of the type used to dispense ink in automatic lithographic presses. The ink cartridge comprises a hollow cylindrical body for holding a supply of extrudable ink, a plunger and a dispensing fitment. The improvement comprises a valve member mounted over a central aperture in the dispensing fitment and a flexible molded plastic spring that biases the valve member in the closed position. The valve member opens when subjected to pressure from the ink and closes automatically and completely when the ink pressure is less than the biasing force of the flexible spring.

An improved cartridge for dispensing highly viscous fluids in which the nozzle is recessed for ease of packaging, shipping and storing. The cartridge comprises a hollow cylindrical body, a plunger and a dispensing fitment. The cylindrical body holds a supply of extrudable fluid contents such as lithographic ink. The plunger serves as a pneumatically activated piston within the cylindrical body to extrude the contents of the cartridge. The nozzle has an open and a closed position. In the closed position the nozzle does not protrude beyond the top of the dispensing fitment. The dispenser may also include a detachable nozzle extension which, when attached to the nozzle, extends beyond the top of the fitment.

A one piece closure for a container is described in which the closure has a break-open, reclosable lid. The lid is formed integrally with the closure and is defined by frangible lines of weakness formed in the closure. In use, the lid is initially held in its closed position by way of the unbroken frangible lines of weakness. The user exerts a downward force on the lid so as to break the lid from the closure. The lid is hinged to the closure by means of molded-in-place hinges. The lid has a lid closing tab integrally molded with the lid with the closing tab being disposed on the other side of the hinge line from the lid. As the lid and the closing tab are broken clear of the closure, the lid rotates downwardly about the hinge line into the container and the closing tab rotates upwardly. As the lid move to its fully open position, a locking tab on the bottom face of the lid snap locks into position and cooperates with the closure thus positively holding the lid in its fully open position and preventing the 'memory' of the molded in place hinges from partially reclosing the lid. The lid may be re-closed by pushing in the opposite direction on the closing tab thereby to free the locking tab from the closure and to rotate the lid upwardly about the hinge line until the lid and the closing tab are substantially co-planar with the cover.

A closure cap (1) of the present invention is provided for closing a tube (3). The cap has a skirt (15) which, when installed on the tube, extends from the end of the tube along the outside of the outside surface of the tube wall, an end closure (13) which extends across the end of the tube and closes off the end of the tube, and an inner flange (17) integral with the skirt and with the end closure. The inner flange is concentric with the skirt such that the end of the tube is received between the skirt and the inner flange. The cap further has a wall (19) integral with the inner end of the flange and integral with the end closure for connecting the inner end of the inner flange and the end closure. A flexible connection (23) is provided between the skirt and the inner flange which permits flexing of the inner flange relative to the skirt upon installation of the cap on the tube thereby to enable installation of the cap on the tube substantially without deformation of the tube. The wall and the end closure apply a radially outward biasing force on the inner flange thereby to grip the tube between the inner flange and the skirt so as to hold the cap on the tube.

An early warning system (10) for visually informing the hearing impaired driver (D) of an automotive vehicle (A) of the proximity of an emergency vehicle by detecting a siren being sounded by the emergency vehicle. A microphone unit (12) receives an audible frequency signal transmitted by the siren. This signal is in one of a band of audible frequencies. In addition to the siren, the microphone unit receives other audible frequency signals as well. A signal processor (22) processes all received audible frequency signals. The processor includes an analog-digital converter (30) for converting received signals to a digital signal. The processor further includes a correlator microprocessor (32) for comparing the resulting processed signal to known siren signal characteristics each of which identifies a different type of siren. A light indicator (D1) provides a visible signal to the driver of the proximity of an emergency vehicle and an audible warning is also provided. These warnings allow the driver time to take appropriate action to avoid the emergency vehicle. The indicator is illuminated when a correlation is found indicating a received signal corresponds with the sound made by an emergency vehicle siren.

System and method for detection of aural signals

An end closure assembly for a dispensing container and the method of assembly. A cover mounted on the container includes a central opening and a radially spaced dispensing passageway. A rotor overlies the cover and is rotatable about a central, generally columnar, hub positioned within a central orifice of the rotor such that a dispensing passageway through the rotor can be rotated into and out of registry with the cover dispensing passageway to thereby open and close the container. The hub includes an annular, radially outward extending flange which overlies the rotor and holds the rotor against the cover. An annular gripping lip integral with the cover permits downward insertion of the hub into the cover orifice during assembly yet inhibits removal of the hub after assembly. If the assembly is tampered with by attempting to remove the hub from the cover orifice or by removing the rotor from beneath the hub flange, it will be difficult to replace the rotor or hub without the assembly showing evidence of the tampering. An efficient method of assembling the end closure includes forming the rotor and hub as a one piece article of manufacture connected by bridging material which breaks and separates the rotor and hub during assembly. The method is not only more economical but also allows a design formed into the rotor and hub to be in proper alignment immediately after assembly.

End closure assembly

An end closure for a shake and pour container is disclosed having a cover which is mounted on a canister type container. The cover has a rotor rotatably mounted on the cover. The cover has a break-away, hinged lid formed therein with the lid having a tab extending out from the lid beyond the hinge line. Upon applying a downward force on the lid, the lid may be broken away from the cover and rotated downwardly into the container along the hinge line thus opening the container. As the lid rotates down, the tab is also broken away from the cover and rotates upwardly above the level cover so as to be engaged by the rotor thereby to hold the lid in its full open position.

An end closure for a container for grated or powered products having a push open lid portion for providing access to material within the container and a rotatable closure portion for selectively closing off the opening defined by the push open lid portion. The push open lid portion includes elements on the openable lid portion which cooperate with corresponding gripping elements defined on the undersurface of the end closure so the latter will engage the former to retain the lid portion in its open disposition.
