An apparatus for transporting a turbine engine with a transportation fixture including a turbine engine jig having mounts for securing the turbine engine, a rotor with a drive shaft rotationally supported by a bearing, the method includes supplying a lubricant to the bearing and rotating the drive shaft while the turbine engine is in transport.

Engine transportation apparatus

An apparatus and method of transporting a turbine engine with a transportation fixture including a turbine engine jig having mounts for securing the turbine engine, a rotor with a drive shaft rotationally supported by a bearing, the method includes supplying a lubricant to the bearing and rotating the drive shaft while the turbine engine is in transport.

A rotary damper for use in motor vehicle suspensions comprising a rotor disposed within damping fluid in a fluid chamber of a casing to form inner fluid volume and outer fluid volume, with first valve and second valve for controlling flow between the inner fluid volume and the outer fluid volume, and an accumulator using closed cell foam as a compressible material for fluid fill variation and thermal expansion. First valve controls flow from the outer fluid volume to the inner fluid volume for one direction of rotation of the rotor, while second valve controls flow from the inner fluid volume to the outer fluid volume for the opposite rotation of the rotor. Thus, the valves are configured to provide independent control of damping for each direction of rotation. A valve holder supporting the valves and providing flow passages is designed for powdered metallurgy fabrication.

Rotary damper

A hydraulic engine mount includes opposed mounting members secured to an elastomeric body and a base, respectively, with an orifice plate assembly interposed the body and the base to define a pumping chamber and a reservoir for hydraulic fluid to flow therebetween through an orifice track formed by the orifice plate assembly. An elastomeric decoupler disk is secured in a recess formed between two orifice plates of the orifice plate assembly and defines a gas spring or cushion space which may be filled or vented by a removable plug in one of the orifice plates. Improved dynamic rate and damping at low amplitude inputs to the mount are provided by the gas cushion biased decoupler as compared with a decoupler type mount without the gas cushion bias. The mount provides an advantage over conventional decoupled hydraulic mounts in that very strict dimensional tolerances are relaxed and performance characteristics, as well as ease of manufacturing, are improved.

Hydraulic mount with gas spring supported decoupler

A hydraulic mount for an automotive vehicle or machine includes opposed mounting members secured to an elastomeric body and a base, respectively. An orifice plate assembly is interposed the body and the base to define a pumping chamber and a reservoir for fluid to flow therebetween through an orifice track of the orifice plate assembly. An electroactive polymer decoupler member is secured in a cavity formed between two orifice plates of the orifice plate assembly. The decoupler member is operably connected to a controller for imposing an electric field on the decoupler member to change its shape and thereby selectively vary the dynamic stiffness of the mount.

Active decoupler hydraulic mount

A hydraulic engine mount includes opposed mounting members secured to an elastomeric body and a base, respectively, and an orifice plate assembly interposed the body and the base to define a pumping chamber and a reservoir or opposed pumping chambers for fluid to flow therebetween through an orifice track formed by the orifice plate assembly. One or two elastomeric decoupler discs may be secured in recesses between two orifice plates of the orifice plate assembly and form spaces which are operable to be in communication with a vacuum source to impose vacuum pressure on the decouplers at selected frequencies as controlled by solenoid operated valves and a controller. The mount may be operated at a substantially reduced dynamic stiffness lower than the static stiffness of the mount to provide improved low amplitude vibration isolation, in particular.

Vacuum actuated active decoupler mount

A hydraulic mount assembly includes a body with a main chamber formed therein. A magnetorheological fluid retaining member is positioned in the main chamber forming a magnetorheological chamber adjacent the main chamber. An electrical coil is positioned adjacent the magnetorheological chamber and a plate member is operably connected to the magnetorheological fluid retaining member. Energization and de-energization of the coil controls the ability of the mount to resist movement by varying the apparent viscosity of the fluid within the magnetorheological chamber.

Hybrid hydraulic mount with magnetorheological fluid chamber

An adaptive hydraulic engine mount for mounting an engine to a frame of a motor vehicle includes a pumping chamber and reservoir filled with damping fluid and an orifice track or damping channel communicating the pumping chamber with the reservoir. A decoupling diaphragm responds to pressure level in a control cavity to control pumping of damping fluid through the damping channel, thereby controlling the dynamic stiffness of the mount. Upon actuation of a control valve, the pressure level in the control cavity is changed to achieve a level of damping greater than the low damping level. According to another embodiment of the invention, the control cavity can be communicated with engine vacuum to achieve maximum damping, or air may be trapped in the control cavity to achieve an intermediate level of damping, or the control cavity may be communicated to atmosphere to provide low levels of damping.
