A method for detecting user triggered call drops includes identifying one or more user terminated calls from a plurality of monitored calls. Signaling information associated with the identified user terminated calls is correlated with media channel information associated with the identified user terminated calls. A determination is made if termination of the one or more of the identified user terminated calls is related to quality of media across corresponding media channels. A predefined cause code is assigned to the one or more of the identified user terminated calls, in response to determining that the termination of the one or more of the identified user terminated calls is related to the quality of media across the corresponding media channels.

Detecting and reporting user triggered call drops

A system and method to identify a call end associated with a problem that caused failure of an internet protocol-based call. The method includes accessing a first call detail record (CDR) set including at least one CDR associated with a first call end of the failed call, determining from the first CDR set indicators of failure attribution of the failed call, determining whether fault for failure of the failed call is attributed to the first call end based on the indicators of failure attribution; outputting an indication that the fault is attributed to the first call end if it was determined that the fault is attributed to the first call end, and outputting the indication to indicate the first call end is acquitted of the fault if it was determined the fault is not attributed to the first call end.

System and method for accurate reporting of fault for failed internet protocol-based calls

A system and method for aggregating IP flows in a telecommunication network is disclosed. A multi-protocol flow representing packets captured from the telecommunications network during a selected time period is displayed on a user interface of a network monitoring system. The multi-protocol flow is highlighted on the user interface display if any session records within the multi-protocol flow do not meet operator-defined criteria. The user interface detects a user's selection of the multi-protocol flow and displays a plurality of protocol-specific flows that are within the multi-protocol flow. The user interface detects the user's selection of one of the protocol-specific flows and displays a plurality of session flows that are within the selected protocol-specific flow. Any session records that do not meet operator-defined criteria are highlighted on the user interface.

System and method for aggregating multi-protocol flows for network monitoring

A system and method collects radio frequency isolation values with the assistance of mobile stations operating within a cellular wireless communication system. A broadcast channel and a broadcast cell/sector are first chosen. Then, the broadcast channel is disabled in neighboring (or all) other cells/sectors in the system. The base station servicing the broadcast cell/sector then transmits on the broadcast cell sector. Mobile stations operating within the system are then directed to measure and report the signal strength of the broadcast channel as well as a traffic channel servicing their ongoing calls. The mobile stations then report these signal strengths to the cellular wireless communication system. The signal strength measurements are then used to calculate cell/sector radio frequency isolation values between the broadcast cell/sector and respective servicing cell/sectors. Because the broadcast channel may be transmitted at a greater level than normal transmissions, a normalization process may be required. This process is then repeated for each cell/sector in the system so that cell/sector radio frequency isolation values may be collected for these other cells/sectors. Finally, all collected cell/sector isolation values are processed and complied to create an isolation matrix.

System and method for using mobile station signal strength measurements to collect radio frequency isolation data in a cellular network

A cellular network having an radio frequency (RF) management capability includes a mobile switching center, at least one base station controller operative coupled to the mobile switching center, and at least one base station operatively coupled to the at least one base station controller. The at least one base station is for being operatively coupled with at least one mobile station for carrying out at least one mobile communications call. Lastly, a radio frequency manager is operatively coupled to the at least one base station, in conjunction with the at least one mobile station. The RF manager is further for managing a handoff upon the occurrence of a prescribed event, the handoff including a handoff-to-self via a simultaneous base station radio and mobile station frequency transition.

Method and apparatus for simultaneous radio and mobile frequency transition via &ldquo;handoff to self&rdquo;

A Dynamic Frequency Association (&ldquo;DFA&rdquo;) techniques comprising fixed channel allocation (&ldquo;FCA&rdquo;) and distributed channel borrowing techniques using a segregation scheme is described. The DFA technique can be used autonomously to dynamically determine the best channels for a cell cluster. Additionally, a method of minimizing search delays at channel assignment by employing a channel usage history is disclosed. In one aspect, as in FCA, each cell is assigned its nominal channels, if any, from the available frequency spectrum, with a fixed radio assigned to each of these frequencies, respectively. Additionally, in accordance with the teachings of the present invention, each cell is equipped with one or more radios designated as &ldquo;DFA radios&rdquo;. In operation, idle DFA radios scan channels that may be borrowed in order to build a probability matrix. This enables the cell to determine which channels to use for traffic prior to actual channel request by a mobile. This reduces the search delay experienced in classic segregation schemes.
