Gaming machine

An upright gaming machine includes a game determination component that facilitates a wager-based game result, input/output devices coupled to the game determination component, a gaming machine cabinet housing various gaming machine components, and lower and cash access doors located about the gaming machine cabinet. The lower door can be fully removable from the gaming machine, can facilitate access to an internal belly region, and can include a tethered locking arrangement having rotary latches, stationary pins, and a tether. The cash door includes a virtual pivot hinge opening arrangement that moves the cash door in a swivel motion from a closed position to an open position, where the swivel motion of the cash door is about a virtual axis having a center of rotation for which no physical component passes therethrough.

Push-button switches and components thereof, including push-button switch button covers, as well as methods of making the same and gaming machines having such push-button switches, are provided. The push-button switches are low profile and configured for aperture-free mounting, and the button covers are configured to convey information and have improved characteristics.

Various aspects described or referenced herein are directed to different methods and systems for facilitating secure access to various components of electronic wager-based gaming devices such as video slot machines, video poker machines, and other types of wager-based gaming machines. One aspect disclosed herein is directed to an improved button panel assembly design which enables a button panel to be attached/detached to/from the gaming machine cabinet in a manner which does not require the opening of the main access door, and in a manner which does not require access to the interior of the gaming machine cabinet. Another aspect is directed to an improved button panel security system.

A gaming machine has a cabinet, one or more first displays, and a topper mount which supports a topper display above the cabinet and the first display(s). The topper mount may comprise a tower which extends upwardly from the cabinet and arms which extend upwardly from the tower to support the topper display. The topper mount extends behind the topper display while supporting the topper display outwardly in alignment with the first display(s) and directly adjacent to the first display(s). The topper mount may define an internal cable routing path from the topper display into the cabinet.
