An infusion system includes an infusion catheter defining a fluid passage extending between a proximal catheter end and a distal catheter end, and having a plurality of infusion ports in communication with the fluid passage and defining an infusion zone. A filtration device is provided which may be retrofitted upon the infusion catheter and includes a filter sleeve coupled to a slidable control sleeve. The filter sleeve is deformable between a first configuration having a radially contracted footprint and a second configuration having a radially expanded footprint, responsive to sliding the control sleeve over the infusion catheter such that the deformable filter sleeve buckles outwardly from the infusion catheter.

In a method for making a wire guide, a fluoropolymer coating is removed from a distal section of an FP coated core wire to expose a metallic portion. A polymer coating is applied to a proximal section of the FP coated core wire such that the polymer coating overlays at least a portion of the FP coating, and to the distal section of the FP coated core wire including the exposed metal portion. The polymer coating is removed from the FP coating to form the wire guide having a proximal portion with the FP coating and a distal portion with the polymer coating. A hydrophilic coating may be applied to the distal portion over the polymer coating.

Method of making a coated wire guide

A multi-functional wire guide assembly includes an elongate tubular housing having a length and defining a lumen extending from an open proximal end of the elongate tubular housing to an open distal end of the elongate tubular housing. A first mandril is positioned within the lumen, extends a majority of the length of the elongate tubular housing, and has a fixed position relative to the elongate tubular housing. A second mandril is positioned within the lumen, has a length greater than the length of the elongate tubular housing, and is axially movable relative to the elongate tubular housing. The multi-functional wire guide assembly has a first configuration in which a distal tip of the second mandril is proximally spaced from a distal segment of the elongate tubular housing and a second configuration in which the distal tip of the second mandril is axially aligned with the distal segment.

A spring action medical device includes a spring that may propel a hammer component in a distal direction when the spring is released from a loaded state. When propelled forward by the spring, the hammer component makes contact with a distal tip of the medical device. The distal tip may then transfer a force to an external object, such as an occlusion in a body lumen.

The present invention generally relates to a medical surgical device and specifically a wire guide for percutaneous placement within a body cavity. In one embodiment, the wire guide includes an elongated core member having a proximal stop and a distal stop and a rib positioned between the proximal stop and the distal stop. A first coil is positioned over the elongated core member and extends between the proximal stop and the rib. A second coil is positioned over the elongated core member and extends between the rib and the distal stop.

A vascular occlusion device for occluding a body vessel is disclosed. The device comprises a hub having proximal and distal ends and a plurality of anchoring struts. Each anchoring strut has a first end and a second end. The first ends are connected together at the hub. Each of the second ends extends freely from the first end to engage the body vessel for anchoring the device therein. The device further comprises a central strut attached to the proximal end of the hub. The device further comprises a proximal and distal members and an extracellular matrix material. The proximal and distal members are slidibly disposed about the central strut. The extracellular matrix material is disposed about the central strut between the proximal and distal members.

The present invention provides a wire guide () suitable for use in a body vessel, such as a peripheral vessel. The wire guide comprises a core member () and a first coiled member (), each having proximal and distal ends. In one embodiment, the core member comprises at least one recessed portion (), wherein the proximal end of the first coiled member is seated at least partially within the recessed portion to form a substantially flush exterior surface with the core member. The wire guide further preferably comprises a second coiled member () having proximal and distal ends, wherein the second coiled member is disposed distal to the first coiled member. The distal end of the first coiled member may be partially intertwined with the proximal end of. the second coiled member. A shaping ribbon () may be disposed substantially beneath the second coiled member to achieve a desired curvature at the distal tip of the wire guide.
